Nikolas Valerius is a man defined by shadow and exile. As a wealthy, tormented vampire living in Regency-era England, he is as dangerous as he is irresistibly desirable. When he set his sights on the headstrong and spirited Emma Stokehurst, he uses every ounce of his influence to claim her, despite her betrothal to another. Yet, capturing Emma is only the beginning of a complex emotional journey that defies the limitations of a single lifetime.
This captivating paranormal romance thrives on a tension-filled slow-burn, masterfully weaving together the cold bitterness of the present with the opulent splendor of a bygone era. As Nikolas struggles to win the heart of a woman who refuses to conform to society’s stifling expectations, he finds himself drawn into a mysterious connection that transcends time. The narrative elegantly explores the concept of reincarnation, peeling back the layers of Nikolas’s weary soul to reveal a destiny rooted in a past life as a Russian prince.
For readers seeking a story where royalty meets the supernatural, this tale offers a deeply moving exploration of love’s endurance. It is a lush, atmospheric escape that proves even the most hardened hearts can find redemption through the touch of a soulmate across centuries.

The past and present involving reincarnation was interesting and moving. I loved the independent spirit and refusal to cave to society’s expectations displayed by Emma. Only a rare man would allow such in that time period. From the descriptions of the nature and spirit of Russians, I feel that I would appreciate such people. It is very sad and unfortunate that their current leader has cast such a dark shadow over their country. ) One person found this helpful

I was really looking forward to reading this book, and for the most part I was not at all let down. Nikolas was really a jerk at the beginning of the book. I mean, he loved Emma, he just didn't know it. But he behaved abysmally towards her. He locked her out of his life, and he treated his illegititmate son Jake like the worst kind of trash. I was shocked by his character, but I knew that Lisa Kleypas would find some way to bring him around, and she really did. His transformation was sudden,...

I am an avid Lisa Kleypas fan. I have read every book she has written, even the really early ones that I had to search out. I love this story, the way it went back and forth in time with the Czar and Nicky's brother...the story in Russia is unique and he discovers he can be more then who people think he is. When Nicky gets back from his \"trip\" its interesting how he gets Emma to come around and believe. I LOVE time travel, and although its called \"Dreams\", he changes altogether when he is...

I loved the research of the writer which took me to Russia 1707, to create a marvelous love story! I do feel Emma deserved more than a changed man after loving another in her past life, but the funny thing is that he falls in love in Emelia because she looked identical to Emma, and the only reason he chooses Emelia is because she is Emma. Complicated. Lisa K. is an amazing writer. Thank you for the nice travel through old Russia. I actually always admired Peter the Great. It also called my...

I enjoyed the story of the two characters. I think it got off track with the past life parts. I did not like there being two love stories. One man two women in different time periods it muddied up the story. I found my self reading the past life part very fast, just to get through it. It then seemed to have a rushed ending. If you are a Lisa Kleypas fan definitely read the book if you are new to her historicals pick another story you will not be disappointed. )
