Heartless Sky: Zodiac Academy, Book 7

by Caroline Peckham

About this book

The winds of fate are shifting at Solaria, but for Tory and Darcy Vega, the path to the throne has never been more perilous. As the twin heirs continue their desperate fight to reclaim their birthright from the madman who usurped their crown, the stakes reach a fever pitch. This installment in the addictive paranormal romance series forces the sisters to confront their deepest fears and the dark, blood-drenched destiny that threatens to consume the men they love.

For fans of high-stakes vampire lore and royal intrigue, this chapter elevates the drama to devastating new heights. The narrative expertly weaves in the turned-newborn trope, exploring the visceral vulnerability of those newly thrust into the supernatural hierarchy. It is a world of rigid classism and brutal power plays where the stars themselves seem to have abandoned the protagonists. As the sisters prepare for an inevitable final battle, they realize that sacrifices are mandatory and no one is guaranteed to survive the fallout.

Be warned: this story is an emotional gauntlet. Known for their ability to leave readers completely wrecked, the authors deliver a narrative that balances moments of soaring triumph with scenes of absolute, soul-crushing tragedy. Prepare yourself for a heartless sky.

I. Am. Wrecked.

April 6, 2022

I finished this book last night & I was too much of a wreck to write the review at that time. This book had some of the highest of highs, but the last 10 to 20 percent was just brutal, watching all of the characters you've come to adore be smashed on the rocks below that titular Heartless Sky. Before I get deeper into the review, I just have a few words to say about Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti. Aside from their obvious sadistic tendencies towards their characters (& therefore our...

Things Go From Good To Horrible Real Quick

December 28, 2025

Trigger Warning : violence, death, confinement, hate crimes, torture, self harm, physical abuse, emotional abuse, misogyny, racism, bigotry, classism, mental health struggles, slavery, murder, sexual assault This book more than any of the others does a great job of balancing moving the plot forward, answering questions from previous books, and heartwarming moments between our main and side characters. It also has the best balance, so far, of dark moments and moments that actually made me smile....

I physically cannot get enough of the pain

December 21, 2021

I've been on a Caroline & Susanne (We'll call them the Twisted Sisters, TS for short) binge for about two months now. I have read the entirety of Zodiac Academy, Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac, and the Harlequin Crew. This is BY FAR my favorite of them all. Let's get into it. SOME MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD-NOTHING MAJOR TO THE STORY . . . . . . . It was the best times, and it was the worst times. And I am a glutton for punishment. SO many amazing moments happened among the Vega Twins and the Heirs. The...

This book was evil.

February 6, 2024

My whole heart has been ripped from my chest. I have never sobbed as hard as I have in the last 100 pages of this book. I knew that this ending was coming. I knew what lied ahead for our sweet heroes, but the way these authors literally ripped my soul out of my body and sent it beyond the veil was uncalled for. I am not ok and truthfully I think I will need at least 3 business days to recover from this book. Pros: •The absolute love in this book is beyond amazing! •The love between the main...

Emotional Damage, Party of Everyone

July 31, 2025

At this point, I just want to see this series through to the bitter end—and wow, Book 7 was a complete emotional wreck. The chaos, the heartbreak, the sheer frustration… is anyone even still standing with their heart intact? Let’s talk characters: Lance Orion – He’s a shadow of who he used to be. His relationship with Darcy has devolved into him being little more than her loyal shadow. I almost preferred him in prison—at least then, he was making choices that felt grounded in conviction. The...
