All's Fair in Love and Blood

by Charlaine Harris
Bon Temps is burning, and Sookie Stackhouse is once again standing in the ashes. When Merlotte’s bar is firebombed, the local anti-shifter sentiment makes for an easy scapegoat, but Sookie knows the truth is far more twisted. As a telepathic barmaid with a magnet for supernatural catastrophe, she quickly realizes that the attack is merely a distraction from a much deadlier master plan brewing in the shadows.
Her loyalties are pushed to the breaking point when she discovers that her lover, the formidable vampire Eric Northman, and his progeny, Pam, are orchestrating a dangerous coup against their own master. Caught between her instinct to protect those she loves and the terrifying reality of vampire politics, Sookie is pulled into a web of betrayal where every move could be her last.
This installment in the beloved paranormal romance series masterfully blends Southern gothic charm with heart-pounding action. Tropes like the fated bond between a human and a vampire and the constant threat of a hidden enemy keep the tension high. Fans of the series will find the signature wit and shifting alliances that have made this saga a staple of the genre, proving that in Louisiana, the dead never truly rest.

Once again, Sookie Stackhouse, our favorite telepathic barmaid at Merlotte's in Bon Temps, Louisiana has managed to land herself right in the middle of a dangerous situation. When someone attempts to firebomb Merlotte's, Sookie isn't so sure the target is Sam. Business has been slumping, possibly due to the less than successful coming out of the two-natured, but even Sam doesn't have nearly as many enemies as Sookie does. And while things have been quiet with the fairies after most of them...

Dead Reckoning is full of what one has come to expect from a Sookie Stackhouse Novel: non-stop action and mystery, unique Southern charm, and lines that will cause you to burst out in laughter. But more than that, this latest chapter in the series shows us a maturing Sookie who is finally growing into the woman we've seen her become. It's a great relief and joy to see Sookie finally have such deep contemplation about the circumstances and choices in her life. It's also nice to see her frankly...

Welll...This is a solid, liked it but more like my version of 3.5 stars. If it wasn't for the fact that there MIGHT be a huge plot inconsistency in this book, I might have even given it 5 stars but I'm trying to figure out if something might actually be a well placed lie by CH or not but I'm not so sure yet. However, overall I really enjoyed this installment once the ball got rolling (the 1st 50% was a bit boring for me) & I do believe this was indeed a huge turning point for not just Sookie &...

I've been a Charlaine Harris fan since just before True Blood went on the air, and freely admit that it's all Sookie's fault that I started plowing through urban fantasies, paranormal romances and mysteries at a rate that would have my formerly literary self (who snottily turned down the chance to review UF for Publisher's Weekly in 2006 and wish I hadn't!) horrified and disgusted. Since then, I've discovered there are several writers in this genre who have their own unique tone and skill, and...

Review originally posted here:[....] I finished this last week and I am only now getting around to reviewing this. Now I know you all know about the disappointment with Dead in the Family, mine included. But I can say Dead Reckoning was a little better than the last book. That doesn't go without saying, this wasn't a favorite. In fact, like I have heard some say and I think it is true, this felt like a filler. Problems were addressed, others rose and some of those weren't addressed (part of my...
