Absolutely love this book! The story of Andor and Lorraine is woven beautifully among the continuing tale of the Carpathian ancients and their war with the Malinov Vampire army. Andor debates allowing mortal wounds to end his life, allow human hunters finish what a battle with vampires had begun and end his dark existence. I had mixed feeling about Dark Sentinel. I had to read it twice to figure out why it was not holding my attention. I listened on audible book and then I went back and read my HB book. I couldn't make up my mind if its a 3 star story or a 4 star. So I gave it the benefit of the doubt and gave it 4 stars. Lorraine Peters is one of the best written lifemates I have read in awhile. I'd really give this more like a 4.5 because there are parts where it rushed through things when I wished it would star to explore for a while. To elaborate and build up more of the world and the other characters and relationships with them. It was still wonderful though! The last few books of the Dark Series has really renewed my faith.
