Evie
The block on my power is gone, and Etherdale is under siege. Kylo and I may be bound by blood and shadow, but his ruinous betrayal looms over the love I once thought was written in the stars. As secrets, lies, and atrocities mar our fight for the city, monsters from my past threaten to eclipse my tenuous future. Yet, I am no longer a frightened girl on the run. I’m The Tower incarnate, the harbinger of the great reckoning, and a message to the born vampires who lust for me and my magick that their reign of terror is over.
I do not fear violence. I thirst for it.
Kylo
My sweet blonde angel has finally let her darkness out of its cage. She is a dark goddess, and I will gladly fall to my knees before her—to grovel and fight to earn back the trust of her beautiful, vulnerable heart. War is on our doorstep, testing everything my clan and I have built for the past eighty years. Evie’s power has drawn the obsession of our enemies, and now my duty to the revolution is at odds with my obsessive, all-consuming love for her as I’m forced to make impossible choices.
Evie deserves her freedom. But I need my collar and fang marks around her throat.

This second book in the series was so good. Evie and Kylo's love and adoration for each other was solid and heart warming. There were battles, plot twists, and villains who were easy to hate. Evie grew emotionally, psychologically, and magically coming into her own strength and power. She became strong and a strength for the resistance. The found family dynamics made Evie feel inclusive and loved in spite of her previous trauma. The last 20% of the book was exciting and nerve wracking with a...

I really struggled with this book. It was just lacking the magic of the first one. I’ll definitely read more from this author, but this book was a disappointment. ) One person found this helpful

Overall: 4.75/5 Spice Level: 3.75/5 Recommended: Yes Let me start off by saying this was easily one of my favorite reads of the year. Book 2 was even better than book 1, but both were amazing. The character growth, especially for Evie was so fun to read. I liked that she didn't just become all powerful and then show no weakness again. She realistically has moments of extreme weakness but then uses her love for Kylo and her found family to build herself back up again. Their relationship had some...

Did it seem like this was maybe going to be a Trilogy, and about 3/4 of the way the author changed her mind? Anyway. Good Duology. ) One person found this helpful

So glad the ending had a full circle moment in more ways than 1. My issue with the priest part of this duet was the pacing but the second part fixes it a little bit, not entirely. So glad this is HEA Because i dont know if my heart could’ve taken it if it wasn’t. )
