Circus of the Dead: Book 2

by Kimberly Loth

About this book

Samuel deserves to die a thousand deaths.

I was so close to going home and then he ruined it all.

Now, I have to focus on how to survive because I don’t think I can go home.

And to be honest, after a few more nights with Benny, I’m not sure I even want to. Plus, the more I learn about the circus, the more intrigued I become. I discover that I have abilities I couldn’t have even dreamed of if I’d stayed in California.

But, if I’m to survive, I might have to embrace dark magic.

Can I do that without losing myself?

Or am I destined to become evil?

Great friction series

Great series loved it )

Even more creepy than the first!

I enjoyed this a lot, with one huge caveat: Samuel repeatedly sexually harasses and tries to rape Callie. In fact him trying rape her happens pretty early in the book. He then keeps trying to manipulate her into sleeping with him. He also forces other members of the circus to sleep with him, partially just to get under Callie’s skin. As well as basically enslaving kids. Now I know this is a tool that illustrates how depraved and evil he is, and to make us hate him all the more. It works! But...

Captivating and frightening

Callie's adventure becomes more intriguing the further I read. I wonder how she'll survive this island of horrors. There's no telling who her real friends are or if she's in this alone. Samuel is the ringmaster you love to hate. Benny and Callie have something special but how far does it go. We learn so much more about the island and the people on it during this book that it keeps us invested in the turn of the page. And that cliffhanger... I don't know where the author got this idea, but I'm...

Fantastic Sequel

February 27, 2020

A lot of sequels aren't as good as the first book, but some surpass their beginnings. This book did that and I loved it even more than the first book, of course having what Callie has to protect her would be awesome. I admit that the cliff hangers are horrid, but I'm looking forward to seeing where this all goes and how the story will end. I read this book in under a day, which is big for me since I'm a rather slow reader, but it was well worth it. I'm excited to continue this series and see...

Oh Callie what have you done? And what will happen now ?

February 3, 2020

Wow this series just gets better and better! Callie seems to have finally beaten Samuel but at what cost? Is she the islands new puppet master? What about Benny? I love this series, can't put it down! Great plot, action packed with characters that seem so real it's like you could expect them to drop over for coffee. Can't wait for the next book! )
