A Hunger Like No Other: Immortals After Dark, Book 2

by Kresley Cole

About this book

Emmaline Troy is a sheltered soul, a rare hybrid of vampire and Valkyrie who has spent her life hidden away. Desperate to uncover the truth behind her parents’ deaths, she ventures to Paris, only to collide with a force of nature. Lachlain MacRieve, the ruthless King of the Lykae, has survived over a century of torture at the hands of vampires, and his only drive is vengeance. That is, until the scent of his fated mate shatters his resolve.

This electrifying paranormal romance masterfully blends high-stakes urban fantasy with an intense enemies-to-lovers dynamic. Lachlain is possessive, primal, and dangerous, while Emmaline must navigate her newfound identity as a turned-newborn in a world of ancient hostilities. Their connection is volatile, fueled by a soul bond that defies their warring species and forces them to choose between their past loyalties and a future neither expected.

If you crave a dark, spicy, and addictive read that defined the paranormal genre, this is your next obsession. Beyond the steam, Kresley Cole delivers a rich, expansive world filled with found family and deep-seated lore. Forget the cheesy covers; this is a gritty, soul-searing tale of second chances and all-consuming devotion that will keep you turning pages until the very end.

DO NOT JUDGE THE BOOK BY ITS CHEESY COVER!

October 5, 2011

To say A Hunger Like No Other is the best adult paranormal romance I have ever read is a bit weighted since I have not read much in this genre. The reason for this is because I had two bad experiences with adult paranormal romance: Dark Lover by J.R. Ward and Sunshine by Robin McKinley. Both failed me miserably, and ever since, I have ignored this genre completely. The first read like soft-core porn and the second was just so boring. Therefore, when a friend recommended me A Hunger Like No...

Smutty, Silly and also has decent plot

Realistically I'd give this a 3.5 or 3.75 star rating if possible on this site - I thought the plot and character development were both interesting but because it's really more if an uber spicy book I don't think there was any monumental or epic story line to follow here. This book is definitely a 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 on the spice scale and the spice is great - if you're looking for good fantasy smut but also decent plot you'll find it here. My only issue is there's some non-consent vibes in the...

A Predecessor to \"Bride\", this book is PERFECTION

“A Hunger Like No Other” is book two in the series “Immortals After Dark.” It is a paranormal romance between the 1200-year-old Lykae King (werewolf), Lachlain, and a 70-year-old half-Valkyrie/half-Vampire, Emmaline. This is a story of love, redemption, revenge, and strength. I would rate the spice level of this book at 🌶🌶🌶.5 The Vampire Horde has tortured Lachlain, the Lykae king, for 150 years in the underground catacombs of Paris. When he smells his mate, a Lykae’s reason for being, he...

I mean...This was entertaining enough to get you over the finish line. But there's a LOT of filler.

A tale as old as time- someone finds THE one then has to get the ONE who is THE one to come around to the idea. Of being The One. Kind of like...The Matrix but with spiritistic supernatural characters...that you don't really need any backstory on because they're all pretty familiar. Maybe a better analogy would be Cait and the Devil by Annabel Joseph or True Blood with a splash of whatever else you can imagine with even more side characters that matter even less than the frequent flashbacks....
