A Hidden Fire: A Vampire Romance Novel

by Elizabeth Hunter

About this book

Giovanni Vecchio is a man of many contradictions. A centuries-old vampire and former assassin turned scholarly book dealer, he has spent five hundred years carefully concealing his lethal past from those who wish him dead. But when his path crosses with Beatrice De Novo, a brilliant and inquisitive librarian, he discovers that she may hold the missing piece to a mystery that has haunted him for ages.

What begins as a focused search for a legendary lost library quickly spirals into a high-stakes, global pursuit. As Beatrice is thrust into an urban fantasy underworld defined by ancient elemental magic and dangerous immortal politics, the line between ally and enemy blurs. Giovanni and Beatrice must navigate a treacherous landscape where trust is a luxury neither can afford, yet the magnetic pull between them becomes impossible to ignore.

This gripping series opener masterfully blends historical intrigue with a simmering, forbidden-love romance. It is the perfect escape for readers who crave complex world-building and a sophisticated enemies-to-lovers dynamic. If you are looking for a paranormal romance that elevates the vampire genre into a sweeping, atmospheric adventure, this is the addictive saga you have been waiting for.

Best Vampire Saga/Romance . . . Ever! Un-put-downable!!!

September 22, 2012

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THE SEQUELS!!!! I LOVED this book (and the 2nd in the series and just downloaded the 3rd book)! And, I am NOT usually a big fan of paranormal/vampire books. I AM, however, a fan of well-written, highly engaging, well plotted, and well-paced fiction. So far, this series fills the bill and more! Elizabeth Hunter, the author, draws you into a seemingly normal world and soon reveals that one of the main characters, Giovanni, is a vampire! The all too human...

A Paranormal mystery with a twist

March 24, 2013

This was a free book that looked interesting so I downloaded it for my \"read some time when I have nothing else to read\" file. I was in the middle of reading another book that I was having trouble with so I decided to dig into that file and pulled up A Hidden Fire, boy am I glad I did. Ms. Hunter is a new author to me and I'm glad I found her, I have a feeling she is going to become a favorite. The book starts off in the basement of a University library where a silent, good looking man...

A Bit of Romance, a Bit of Fire, a Bit of Librarian; Excellent Read

September 20, 2012

A Hidden Fire is an interesting novel with some excellent characters and some pretty thorough world building. If you enjoy a bit of romance, a bit of vampire, and a bit of librarian, this is a book for you. A Hidden Fire takes several elements of classic vampire literature and expands upon them in interesting ways. Vampires are still immortal, they are still able to compel people, and, for whatever reason, they just can't handle the modern world's electronics. Anything more sophisticated than a...

Mystery, intrigue, and a slow burn that will make your toes curl

November 29, 2022

I apparently purchased this book in 2013 and never read it. I'm now kicking myself - fiercely - for doing so. There is so much to love about this book!! Let me count the ways in which I adore it... 1) The feel of the story was similar to The Mummy (the Brendan Fraser version not Boris Karloff original). Not the storyline itself but the FEEL of the story. There's a charming female Librarian and a dashing hero, and they spend the entirety of the book trying to uncover an ancient mystery. It was...

First let me start by saying that I love the premise of the story

July 17, 2014

First let me start by saying that I love the premise of the story. Miss Beatrice De Novo, or B to most everyone, future librarian, is finishing up her senior year at the University of Houston, and in the midst of her duties, meets Dr. Giovanni Vecchio, collector and dealer in rare books and antiquities, whose current project is transcription of an ancient text for a friend. Vecchio is suave, debonair—by all counts an Italian gentleman. As Beatrice begins work at Giovanni’s private residence,...
