Pinerock Clan kids all grown up and starting to find themselves in a new adventure. 1st book is Bas’s story as the group arrives in their town and finds they have their work ahead of them, along with finding mates. )

A very satisfying read. Bear shifter Bas and human Arden meet in a ghost town. The attraction is instantaneous but Arden is on the run from a powerful ex and Bas is still finding his footing as alpha of the Windrock Clan. However, Fate doesn't care about bad timing. Between a raging storm, a threatening ex, a clan of suspicious forest shifters, and clan in-fighting, Windrock Clan may not survive. Lauren Esker weaves humor, danger, and romance into the first story of this entertaining series...

Lauren Esker remains on my auto-buy list! I can definitely confirm that you do not need to have read the Pinerock Mountain series before reading this book. (I hadn't.) Some of those characters have cameos, but they're not primary players here. The romance, between Baz and Arden, has the kind of awkward meet-cute that I love in Esker's books. The main storyline is the intersection of Baz and his cousins moving into the ghost town where Arden is camping out while on the run from her slimy ex....

“Windrock Mountain Bear” is a well-written paranormal, shifter love story with family, friends, fated mates, suspenseful intrigue, and second chances. The world building and blend of paranormal and romance really makes this an engaging, page turner. The characters (main and supportive) are layered and drive their journey.
