Wild Heart (The Wolves of Blackpine Book 1)

by River Tatum

About this book

Some secrets run deeper than mountain roots.

Harper Stone built her career exposing lies. The award-winning investigative journalist trusts evidence over instinct. Until a massive silver-gray wolf leads her to safety in the Montana wilderness—with eyes that look almost human.

Cole Mercer has spent his life protecting his pack's secret. As Alpha of the Blackpine wolves, he knows the rules: never shift in front of humans. Never let outsiders close. Never risk what his family has hidden for generations.

When Harper arrives to investigate his rescue team's impossible success rate, Cole's wolf recognizes what his human side refuses to accept.

She's his mate. She's also hunting the truth that could destroy them all.

Every rescue she investigates brings her closer to the secret. Every moment near Cole shatters everything she thought she knew. The evidence points to the impossible—and Harper has never walked away from a story.

This time, the story might cost her everything.

Can Harper trust the wolf who saved her life, or will the truth destroy the man she's falling for?

When a dangerous poacher closes in with cameras and guns, will Cole choose his pack's survival—or the woman who holds his heart? Dive into this addictive shifter romance today.

Perfect for fans of Patricia Briggs and Nalini Singh. A slow-burn paranormal romance where fated mates, small-town secrets, and journalistic determination collide in the Montana wilderness.

This story grabbed my attention from the first page!

I really liked the way the authors framed this story from the beginning. This is not a bad guy kidnaps the heroine like a lot of stories are. No offense to the stories that do this, but I just wanted something new. This story really gave it to me. I am so glad there are more stories in this series. Loved this! )

New authors for me!

The storyline and characters were good. The writing style was odd to me. In several places, I felt like I was re-reading something I'd just read. Not sure if I'll read the next book or not. ) One person found this helpful

Promising, but…

I really wanted to like this book because it IS well-written in terms of grammar and structure. However, I only made it about 55% before abandoning it because there were too many distracting plot line inconsistencies. Further, many of the same literal handful of plot points repeat in ways that make the story drag. The editors need to take another read through to iron out those inconsistencies and remove redundancies, and then it’ll be a truly excellent novel. )

But I found it interesting enough to read through in just one day with very small breaks. An original (to me) twist on werewolves where not only does pack protect pack but a whole town of 'normies' protects pack as well. )
