We Hunt the Night: The Bloodstone Academy, Book 1

by G. Bailey

About this book

I vowed to use my magic to be good. They promised to use everything they have to break our bond.

Bloodstone Academy is for strong, smart witches to hunt for their shifters, bond with them in the sacred forest, and fight with them in the war when they graduate. Only issue? Most students die from bonding, but that won't stop me.

Every generation of my family went to Bloodstone Academy, and it's in my blood to thrive there. The witch war took my family, and I'm determined to help the Umbral Authority win.

When I finally get the acceptance marking, I couldn't be happier until I walk through the gothic doors and slam straight into a tall, stunningly beautiful dragon shifter…and he shoves me onto the floor in front of everyone.

Bonding with a dragon shifter hasn't been done in a hundred years… until I walk into the forest and four of them accidentally bond with me.

Mazikeen Lycidas, Kane Ardian, Black Ashveil, and Valeron Drexan are treated like gods at this academy—and they hate me. They never wanted to bond, and they don't want to fight in the war. The four of them make my days at the academy hell, and the nights even worse.

No spells are going to save me from them, not when we are pulled together by the bond. No magic will help me in the war if my shifters won't fight.

They say every dragon witch is cursed, and these four are all that is left in the world…and they are determined to ruin me.

USA Today best-selling author G. Bailey returns with a new series—Bloodstone Academy Series is a dark academia romantasy for fans of witches who fall for their enemies and twisted worlds where "who did this to you?" is considered a love speech.

You will find tropes like forbidden romance, forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, fated mates, and Dramione vibes.

Juniper is a witch without a home until she gets into Blood stone Academy and bonds with the four last dragon shifters in existence. Juniper is kind and strong of mind. She has an inexplicable bond with these dragons even tho they are mean to her. She has to do whatever it takes to create a strong bond with them in order to fight and win the war. Only there's so much she doesn't know and dreams she's trying to uncover that tell her nothing is at it seems. This is a slow burn (only kissing)...

Concept was good and it was mostly enjoyable but I think the story could have been written better. I'd love for the author to revisit this later down the line as their writing grows. Further into the story, it seemed like the story they were building was too much for their skill level. Some parts were just a bit juvenile ) 9 people found this helpful

Dragon Riders and that twist.

This book was soooo good I devoured it in one sitting. The world building? Immaculate. G. Bailey drops you straight into a dark, captivating realm filled with danger, magic, and—best of all—hot male dragon shifters that will absolutely ruin you for anyone else. As a why choose romantasy, it nails the chemistry and tension between the characters while still giving you enough plot to keep you completely hooked. And that twist? I did not see it coming. At all. I literally had to sit there for a...

Excellent book!

His has been a great read. I like the twist at the end. I figured they had their memories removed but not that last detail. I would, however, seek a new editor or have them triple/quadruple check as there are a couple spelling and grammatical errors towards the beginning to mid of the book. The last one I saw was 'wad' when the sentence should have 'was'. )

it’s ok, basic read. great story, but not great delivery

I love the story concept but the story went too fast. The author should pull the book and work on developing the story more to help the readers be more engaged. I don’t feel a strong connection to the FMC or the relationships she has to the other girls, the love interests need more slow burn, teasing, and bullying, and there needs to be more buildup of suspense so the big reveal hits stronger. So instead of blowing past weeks at the beginning, spend time in the story so the reader can get more...
