This Heart of Mine: A Novel (Chicago Stars Book 5)

by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

About this book

New York Times bestselling author Susan Elizabeth Phillips magic is vibrantly alive, and it's on display in This Heart of Mine, the fifth book in her wildly popular Chicago Stars series!

Molly Somerville loves her career as the creator of the Daphne the Bunny children's book series, but the rest of her life could use some improvement. She has a reputation for trouble that started even before she gave away her fifteen-million-dollar inheritance. Then there's her long-term crush on the quarterback for the Chicago Stars football team her sister owns—that awful, gorgeous Kevin Tucker, a man who can't even remember Molly's name!

One night Kevin barges into Molly's not-quite-perfect life and turns it upside down. Unfortunately, the Ferrari-driving riving, poodle-hating jock isn't as shallow as she wishes he were, and she soon finds herself at a place called Wind Lake. Surrounded by paintbox cottages, including a charming old bed-and-breakfast, Molly and Kevin battle their attraction and each other as they face one of life's most important lessons. Sometimes love hurts, sometimes it makes you mad as hell, and sometimes—if you're lucky—it can heal in a most unexpected way.

Great Dialogue, Wonderful Characters

February 18, 2001

To me, a sign of a good book is one where you start reading it, get interrupted and can't get back to it for almost two weeks, and find the characters still leap off the pages and grab you back into the story. That's what happened to me and I had no trouble picking up where I left off. Susan Elizabeth Phillips' latest book revisits old favorites and finishes out her saga about the Chicago Stars football team. Molly Somerville has finally grown up and come into her own. The super smart child...

It's Molly's once in a blue moon streak.

August 28, 2013

You know that time when you feel so restless you want to do something you don't usually do that is so far out from what is expected of you? Molly Sommerville has that buzz from time to time that led to the crazies and twisties of this book. In all of SEP's books I've read so far, this has the most twisted and crazy funny characters. The author, Ms Phillips, gives us Molly Sommerville, brainy, well behaved usually, unless she has that once in a blue moon streak of Crazy where she colors her...

Susanne Eliz Phillips at her best! Filled with warmth, inner talk, humor and spiced with sarcasm. Heart-warming story with real and imaginary creatures, and of course, a happy ending! )

Witty Story of Two Kindred Souls

THIS HEART OF MINE is the fifth novel in Phillips Chicago Stars series. Molly Somerville is the younger sister of the owner of the Chicago Stars. She has always been so perfect except for times when she has changed her hair -- and then a reckless, self-destructive person has emerged.
