Owens is a new to me author I found on NetGalley and I am so glad I was browsing their ‘request’ section of ARC’s. After seeing the yummy cover and reading the enticing blurb I definitely wanted to give it a read. Dragons are my favorite paranormal creatures, and I hit the jackpot with new-to-me author Abigail Owen and her Inferno Rising series. Come to find out, she has a large backlist of other paranormal books, and many feature dragons. I will have to look into those..... The book starts with an incendiary beginning, and the pace throughout is just great. There are sections with lots of action-adventure and sections with quiet moments that let the romance develop. I loved Brand and Kasia’s fated mates, dragon and phoenix shifter romantic suspense tale. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. The story will give you all the feels - laughing, crying, swooning, cringing, teeth gritting, and cheering. I was not a fan of shifter novels until I read Abigail Owen's dragons. I read this because I wanted to read more of Abigail Owen's work. I had read The Liar's Crown and absolutely adored it and wanted more from her. This book had a totally different vibe which is okay but I stopped reading shifter books a while back because they all are basically the same and are a little cheesy. This book was a typical alpha male meets stubborn woman and they clash. I liked it but I think I have just read too many similar stories. ) One person found this helpful
