The Ember Wolf’s Hidden Mate: A Fated Mates Wolf Shifter Firefighter Paranormal Romance (Hotshot Wolves Book 1)

by Belle Knight

About this book

She survived a fire that should have killed her. He knows why.

WREN

I've been running for eighteen months. No last name. No forwarding address. No plan beyond the next seventy-two hours. Whatever that organization did to me — whatever they were trying to turn me into — I got out. That's all that matters.

Until a wildfire traps me with a hotshot crew in the California backcountry, the flames close in, and I walk out of the burnover without a scratch.

I can't explain it. But the crew's squad boss is looking at me like he can.

I should leave. I know better than to trust the man with the too-still eyes and the voice that makes my whole body pay attention. I know better than to stay somewhere long enough to be found.

But my senses are sharpening. His scent is everywhere. And for the first time in two years, every instinct I have is telling me to stay.

BRANN

She walked through fire and she's standing in the black and my wolf has never been more certain of anything.

She's a dormant wolf shifter. She has no idea what she is — why her senses are changing, why she can't stop breathing me in, why her body recognizes something her mind hasn't caught up to yet.

I've spent five years making sure nothing gets past my control. Not my instincts. Not my wolf. Not the thing I carry on a chain under my shirt that I've never told anyone about.

She's my mate. And I'm supposed to give her time to figure that out on her own.

My wolf is done with supposed to.

The organization that wanted her? They set that fire on purpose. They know she survived. And they're coming back.

I don't lose control. I don't break protocol. But for her — I'll burn every protocol I've ever built.

The Ember Wolf's Hidden Mate is a steamy, full-length fated mates wolf shifter romance with a hotshot firefighter hero who's losing his iron control, a heroine who doesn't know she's a wolf, and a shadowy organization that wants her back. Picked it up and read STRAIGHT THROUGH

Wren and Brann were the perfect couple to jump back into a shifter series with. The writing was a relaxed read, the banter was hilarious, the moments of WTF were perfectly placed and although I had my suspicions I wasn’t prepared for the actual truth. I loved how things were explained. For example, I’m not a firefighter lady, but the terms were simple and easy to understand. I love Brann! What a man! Such self discipline, such spice! The team had great supporting characters. I can’t wait to...

Beautiful Writing Style…

The Good: Ms. Knight has an amazing way of describing things. I have so many highlights of passages that I adored, including one of the most beautiful, lyrical, descriptor of the fated mate bond I have ever read and I almost exclusively read Fated Mate books. The Not As Good but Not Terrible: (Mild Spoilers Ahead) I struggled with how fast it all was. The FMC had literally about 6 hours of full mental facility with the MMC (if that much) before all the action started happening. I wish I could...

A must read!!!

Good, but could be better

I think the author should have began with the FMC in captivity before she was on the run so the reader would have more insight to the storyline. There were some minor details that annoyed me like the FMC being on the run for 18 months then in other chapters she is referred as being held captive & tested on for 18 months. I can't find where it was ever mentioned how long she was in captivity. Other than a few details like that, I did enjoy the story and am looking forward to Santos' story next....

I can’t find a single thing to like about the Female Main Character. Halfway through chapter 19, DNF

The males are an attractive team. Wolf shifters who work as hotshot fighters. Strong, gritty, brave, and unselfish. They have the added pull of being a group of males who never found their mates. They walk their paths with heavy loneliness. You can’t help but hope for them. Along comes a dormant female, alone in a forest fire. The guys immediately surround her with protection. The MMC quickly recognizes her as his mate. He and his team try to figure out how to best bring her into the fold of...
