Smolder: Drake Security, Book 2

by Mika Nix

About this book

I was hired to protect him, but will our smoldering attraction ignite into love?

When my hot headed brother found his fated mate, a deep, aching desire opened up inside of me for my own. Everyone knows dragons are covetous, jealous… possessive. I am all of these things, but never more so than when I set my eyes on Dempsey for the first time.

Beautiful. Awkward. Sweet. Shy. Perfect. My dragon wants to wrap himself around him the moment he bumps into me outside of his antique shop. Dempsey, however, is not as keen on that idea as my inner beast is.

He hired Drake Security for protection, and he needs it even more than he realized. Unfortunately, we specialize in brute strength and burning sht to the ground, and the problem Dempsey has is way out of our league.

Is he my fated mate or am I just so desperate for one that I’m falling for him too fast? Either way, I’ll move heaven and hell to protect him, even if the forces that are after him are unlike anything I’ve dealt with before.

I’ve spent thousands of years hoarding books and storing their words close to my heart. Will the love stories that live inside my soul be enough to woo him? Is it too much to hope that fate has chosen him for me?

Smolder is book 2 in the Drake Security series and has a reluctant fated mate, dragon shifters, book swooning, ancient mysteries, and magic. Each book can be listened to on its own, but is so much better if listened to in order. The series is all dragons, NO MPREG.

Smolder (Drake Security) #2

Wow! Mika Nix...a Grandslam on this one. I loved the first book. So how can I say I really super loved this one? This story is the second in the series about a family of brothers who also happen to be dragon shifters and have lived for like 2500 years or so. They run a security service offering bodyguard services for a start. Book 2 is similar to book 1 but yet very different. It has the same characters which I love especially the addition of Lake to the whole family dynamic and job thing. But...

Book Hoarding Dragon

I am loving this series and can't wait to read more. When Hemingway meets Dempsey for the first time his dragon is immediately drawn to the man. But Hemingway doesn't believe he would get his fated mate so soon after his brother Nico found his. Both MCs are in denial until sparks fly. I once again found the start of this story a little clunky. The first chapter or two seem written by a completely different person than the rest of the book. Once the story really picks up, which happens fairly...

Obsessed!

Omg this book was amazing! I absolutely loved Dempsey! I felt such a kinship with this nerdy book loving character who passively hoards like a dragon even though he isn’t one! The relationship between Hemingway and Dempsey is so fun to watch, especially in the bringing with they both think the other isn’t interested. The dialogue is so romantic and beautiful between them. They feel like completely different characters from lake and nico in book one! I also loved all the travel and getting to...

Hemingway and Dempsey a very special couple!

What a wonderful story of a dragon shifter finding his mate amongst the craziness of an ancient curse. Hemingway's family security company is hired by Dempsey to protect him from a thief. What Dempsey gets is the love of his life. The characters in the book are all well developed and their relationships are special and funny. Hemingway is the most romantic and poetic dragon shifter. He and Dempsey are so sweet and special together. I really enjoyed reading their story. ) One person found this...

Even better than the first one

What a great series. Likable characters, romance, friendship, danger, scary stuff, what else could you want? Hemingway and Dempsey were such a good couple, lots of depth and lovely thoughts. I loved the quotes. Also Dempsey's struggle with the curse was so well written it brought me to tears. The only thing that I was surprised at was how long it took for them to actually officially bond as a couple. I thought it should have happened a lot sooner than it did. Also there were quite a few typos...
