I love when publishers release single-author story collections. Short stories allow authors to expand a world that they’ve created in between scheduled release novels. I'd read all of the novellas that had been previously released, and though I owned most of the anthologies they were showcased in, not all. I enjoy having all of the stories listed in one place. The fact that this also contains four new stories as well as a couple of outtakes only made the purchase that much easier. And I certainly was not disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I love the novels. And I can't wait for more Alpha Omega, and Adam Mercy stories. But there is so much backstory and so much potential richness that still could be told. This book fills some of that need without needing an entire novel to do it. )

Saying this is a book of short stories is like comparing a spread of pastries from a world class chef to a Hostess cupcake. These are tiny, brilliant peeks into the world that Briggs has created and each story is so rich with emotion and humor that they each felt like their own book.
