With Hearts of Flame (Deluxe Limited Edition): A Dark Academia Romantasy Novel of Vampires and Dragons Featuring Stenciled Edges and Illustrated Endpapers (Bloodwing Academy, 4)
Briar Boleyn
by Gail Carriger
Gay. Victorian. Werewolves.
New York Times bestselling humor author Gail Carriger gives you everything you didn’t know you wanted from dandy shifters in her popular Parasolverse.
ALPHA
Biffy, newly minted Alpha of the London Pack, is not having a good Christmas. His Beta abandoned him. His werewolves object to his curtain choices. And someone keeps leaving human babies on his doorstep.
BETA
Professor Randolph Lyall returns home to London after twenty years abroad to find his pack in chaos and his Alpha in crisis. It will take a lot of Beta efficiency to set everything to rights. Perhaps, in the process, he may even mend his own heart.
“This intoxicatingly witty parody will appeal to a wide cross-section of romance, fantasy and steampunk fans.” Publishers Weekly, starred review (Soulless)
This sweet funny romance is full of unexpected babysitting, holiday decorations, and no small amount of pining. Look for surprise appearances from popular side characters and the occasional strategic application of italics. Perfect for fans of KJ Charles, Jordan L Hawk, or Cat Sebastian this charming story features characters from Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate series. Queer as Folk goes supernatural in this much-anticipated reunion between a certain quietly capable Beta and the werewolf Alpha who let him slip away.
The Supernatural Society novellas stand alone and may be read in any order. But if you’re a stickler, this story chronologically follows Imprudence, and ties to events in Timeless. You can read what happens next to the packs in England and find out Channing's backstory in How to Marry a Werewolf.
Delicate Sensibilities?
Contains men who love other men and have waited decades to do so. And if you like that kind of thing there is also Carriger's San Andreas Shifter series.

This book is absolutely delightful. It’s sweet and thoughtful, and packed full of the kind of wit and dry humor that Carriger excels at. But the absolute best thing about this little romance novella is that it gives you everything you want for Biffy and Lyall after the parasol series - a perfect, light touch of angst and misunderstanding, and everything coming out right, and characters getting a little distracted by wayward sexy thoughts, and the ending you’re hoping for. Followed by a very...

Warning: M/M romance; skip if it's not your thing. This is a very sweet story, both romance wise and with the baby plot. Seeing the werewolves react to babies is priceless. There's a little bit of action, a lot of character development, and some sweet, tender romance. Lovely book. )

This is an offshoot of Ms Carriger's Parasolverse, which I've loved for years. It's the story of Professor Lyall, formerly beta werewolf to the legendary Alpha Lord Maccon of the London pack (whose Alpha madness forced him and wife Alexia to relocate to Egypt, land of the God-breaker plague) , and Biffy (aka Lord Rabiffino), who despite his young age, became alpha of the London pack. Biffy became a werewolf by accident (he was a drone to the vampire Lord Alkedama), but his innate leadership...

I adore Gail Carriger’s work because there’s so much fun & wonder & lightness to counterbalance the inherent darkness associated with Vampires & Werewolves & the Supernatural. This tale is just as delightful, with the additional sweetness of romance between two favorite characters to go along with the wit, adventure, and moments of silly fun. As a writer, I respond well to work that feels effortless (even if I know it’s not), and that makes me forget about the writing; so I’m bestowing 5 stars...

My favorite author and my favorite universe. Count me a fangirl of anything written by Carriger. She is the most intelligent, articulate writer I have ever come across, and I breathe as much as I read. She makes so many characters who are just full of life and craftiness that you can't help to fall in love with and find what happens to them. This book is a short story about a couple of characters from one of her series that we just wanted to know more about their life and she doesn't...
