With Hearts of Flame (Deluxe Limited Edition): A Dark Academia Romantasy Novel of Vampires and Dragons Featuring Stenciled Edges and Illustrated Endpapers (Bloodwing Academy, 4)
Briar Boleyn
by Lola Glass
I made a deal with the fae king five years ago. He's come to collect payment—in the form of a marriage.
Now, my bargain requires me to live with him.
Share a bed with him.
Vow to spend the rest of my immortal life with him, too.
He expects me to be his pretty little werewolf, as if I'm just an object he can use to nullify the pain he constantly feels.
I have to play his game for now, but I've got a plan brewing. Because there's one thing he's forgotten:
Even pretty little wolves have a wicked bite.
He took a piece of my soul... but I'm going to steal his heart.
This is a spicy enemies to lovers romance with a happily ever after

Loved this. I didn't expect the different type of wolf hierarchy, but it wasn't a problem. The book is well crafted and isn't the typical paranormal plot device. I really enjoyed it. Also I like that reading the next book isn't a requirement; it's an option. Lola did a great job of making me want to read it, so that's where I'm headed next. Enjoy! )

Different take on alpha and beta werewolves. Really liked that the women are the alphas. Disappointed that the betas have all the power though. Other than that I really enjoyed the book. The main characters (werewolf & fae) were great and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series. )

I just finished a heart wrenching trilogy before this that had so much drama and angst. I was looking forward to a feel-good read from LolaGlass. I got it and then some. I felt all the feels. I cried at the intensity of emotions. Oh my goodness it was so good! )

The book was enjoyable but anticlimactic for me. Banter and character development without cringe is so hard to find, but for me, the author nailed it. I cackled so many times. Where they lost me at was the repetition and weak “stubborn” character plot device. You know what I mean, the character(s) have some sort of moral or made-up stance and won’t be convinced of anything different even if what they think makes no sense. Sometimes that works if you can convince the reader it’s a logical view,...
