Of Death and Darkness

by Megan Montero

About this book

A woman marked by death.

A demon who would send her there himself.

A revolution that will change it all.

Death comes to us all… or so they say. But they never said that’s what I’d become… death. I’d spent my life taking care of everyone else besides myself. I finally let go for one night. One night of freedom. One night of fun. One night to dance my burdens away. But all it took was that one night for me to be thrown into a cruel fantasy world where only the strongest survived.

All I want is to go home and find my sister, the only person who means anything to me, but I’m trapped in this world where the demons use the elements like weapons. Except I don’t have any powers like them, none of the elements bend to my will. But what I do have is lethal and terrifying, people are dropping dead at my feet and I have no idea why or how. To make matters worse, this gift of mine lands me in the King’s dungeon and now the only way out is to enter the competition to be his Queen.

I don’t want to be queen. I don’t even want to be here. But if I don’t compete in this deadly game for his hand then it’s back to the dungeon to rot. My only hope of escape lies in the hands of Lord Avalon. The bane of my existence and the most beautiful man I’d ever seen. He was the one who kidnapped me. He was the one who threw me into the dungeon in the first place. Yet now he was the one I had to convince to help me…and he loathes me with every fiber of his being. I’m no damsel in distress and with every vile word he speaks to me that hatred becomes more mutual. This fire between us is going to burn something to ashes, I just hope it’s not my heart.

Because it's death if I do and death if I don’t.

I desperately need more!

December 14, 2023

Megan I am still in the post book finish whirlwind, my mind wont stop thinking about it. This book was phenomenal, and I honestly want more adventures for Morgana and Avalon or other members of their kingdom. Memory loss has been a common and useful theme so far within this series and it makes complete sense. Especially considering the principal of “fresh” eyes on a problem being able to solve it with ease. I loved the way Morgana got flashbacks of her former life and her memory back far sooner...

Now that’s a version of The Bachelorette I might watch…

I definitely enjoyed Morgana’s story, though it felt a bit different than Rhodes’s and Saphira’s in the sense that it was much more action driven than love story driven. Avalon honestly felt like an afterthought sometimes. But damn, that man sure can hold a grudge without knowing the full story… If you’ve been reading these books in order, you heard a bit of Morgana’s backstory from Rhodelia in book one and you know things were not good for either of them, but you find out just how “not good”...

What a ride

This is the third book in the Forgotten Kingdom Series. What an amazing ride.I cannot express just how much I love this series. This is one of my favorite series of all times. The series that brought me back to reading and the fantasy/romantasy path. We met Morgana briefly in the previous book. Now we get to see what happens to her on the night where the veil between Terrea and Earth is thin enough for the portal to be opened. Another of lost eight is brought back to Terrea to fulfill the...

Not impressed, this author has crafted a lot better books.

I didn't like that there was a trigger for women who had been sexually assaulted. I didn't like that the main character Lily is a prostitute. And poor Morgana finds out she was a prostitute in her past life. I would be mortified! Her reasons for it are noble. She's saving the money she earns to by nectar for her sister to eat. In the meantime Lily isn't eating. In the end her sister sacrifices her happiness to marry a monster so that Lily can enter the healing pool. Unfortunately, Lily was to...
