This book sparkled from the first sentence. Love the lead-in with introducing Sabine's character. I finished this book yesterday and I loved it. It was dark in a way that the others weren't quite dark. The usurped kingdom of Rothkalina has some dark happenings under the helm of Omort the Deathless. I believe this is also do in part to the fact that the heroine is supposed to be evil in this story. I wouldn't exactly call her evil. I'd call her pragmatic. She's had a rough life that taught her...

I stumbled across this fun series and instantly became addicted...I adored how Rydstrom never put anything before his kingdom...until Sabine. I didn't think I was going to like her (the female lies entirely too much and her obsession with gold is pathetic and is without merit) but the beotch actually grew on me. Her complete and unyielding loyalty to her sister (whose story I cannot wait to read about) drew me in from the start. Rydstrom brotherly moment with Cadeon was sweet, too. So would I...

Wow! This book is so hot and sensual. It was so much fun to watch two very strong characters be matched against the other and have a battle of wills, sexual pleasure and ultimate power. This book is so fast paced, it is very engaging and the pages as so steamy. I loved that we have a super strong heroine at the forefront of this novel.
