Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson, Book 2)

by Patricia Briggs

About this book

“Kick-ass were-coyote auto mechanic Mercedes Thompson” (Publishers Weekly) has leapt to the forefront of today’s urban fantasy heroes, thanks to bestselling author Patricia Briggs. Now, Mercy finds herself in the middle of a bloodbath—with only one way out...

Mercy has friends in low places—and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind. But this new vampire is hardly ordinary—and neither is the demon inside of him.

When the undead and the werewolves sent to find him don’t return, the local vampire queen turns to Mercy for help. A coyote is no match for a demon, but Mercy is determined to get her friends back—including the two werewolves circling around her heart.

Summary Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places-and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind. But this new vampire is hardly ordinary-and neither is the demon inside of him... The Good Blood Bound is all about vampires, which is a nice change of pace from book one which was more about werewolves. It was interesting when the...

More Mercy Thompson!

December 10, 2013

Blood Bound is the second book in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. While I don't think it was quite as successful as Moon Called, it was still an enjoyable read that is better than most Urban Fantasy out there. Mercy is called upon by Stefan, a vampire friend, to accompany him while checking in on a visiting vampire. Since she is a coyote skinwalker, he asks her to take that form and just be an observer. Things don't go as planned and Mercy is pulled in to a fight that includes...

Non-stressful fun

Mercy Thompson is no Kate Daniels, but the series is still turning out to be lots of fun. It’s entertaining and relaxing. The story is interesting, the characters are likeable and there’s a little drama but nothing to get overly invested in. It’s not at all stressful which makes it the perfect series for escaping the pressures of real life. There is no sex, which is fine, and no cursing which is weird – especially since I didn’t notice until it was pointed out. For some reason, once I knew the...

Loved it even more the second time around!

I have so much love for this series! This was my second time reading this book and I can honestly say that I liked it just as much as I did the first and maybe even a bit more. One thing that I enjoy about re-reading books in series that I love is seeing how many things have changed for the characters. I love how some of the groundwork for future events takes root in earlier books. The characters in this series are wonderful. Mercy is awesome. She has a wonderful sense of humor and she is...

5-stars: 'Blood Bound' by Patricia Briggs

June 4, 2020

I read Blood Bound in 2020 during the Romanceopoly Challenge hosted by Under the Covers Book Blog and reread it this year (2023) for a refresher before I read the third book. I’ve meant to read this series and will be making time this year (2023) to catch up, especially since I’m listening to the series because Lorelei King is the narrator. Storyline/My Thoughts: This book was another action-packed adventure for Mercy Thompson, where she puts herself at risk to save her friends, who end up in...
