Raelan and Alina’s story was full of angst, magic, and heart. I really liked it—and it had quite a bit of steam to keep readers engaged and entertained. The only thing I did not like was the gratuitous use of one particular expletive sprinkled throughout the story. I mean authors are wordsmiths and that is the best word they can come up with? Overall, this was a fun story with decent pacing that kept me reading. There are a few elements that were missing for me. First, I don't think we got to understand why they love each other, besides being 'fated mates'. The MMC spent so much time keeping his distance that they didn't really get to know each other. The visit to his family was a good start, but we didn't get much else. Second, the central conflict for the MMC was that he didn't want the FMC to be in danger from him. Yet that...

While I’m not quite sure this falls under the umbrella of cozy that doesn’t detract from the story. Although at times I did feel a great urge to knock Raelin and Alina’s heads together so they would just talk and discover they’re far better together than apart.
