Selah is thrust headfirst into the politics of a war-torn continent at the tender age of five when her Kingdom, Vivisaria, is conquered by the horror-inducing Poneros. She escapes by a hairsbreadth into the neighboring, peaceful kingdom, Rodromia, which is guarded by a magical boundary where the horrifying fingers of the outside world seem unable to reach her.

Thatcher is the only heir to a prosperous kingdom neighboring the conquered land of Vivisaria. When he finds a beaten and magic-battered girl on Rodromia’s side of the boundary, he makes a split-second decision to rescue her, setting a spark to the beginning of a fateful tale of terror and sorrow.
