Zero Chance (The Seven Book 5)

by Linda Kage

About this book

Waverly is a socially deficient introvert who prefers the safety of invisibility to the complexities of human interaction. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she develops a massive crush on Keene Dugger, the campus’s most notorious, loudmouthed player. While Keene hits on every girl in sight, he remains blissfully unaware of Waverly—until a mischievous case of mistaken identity at a party leaves him obsessed with uncovering the mystery girl who stole a kiss in the dark.

This captivating installment of The Seven series masterfully blends the academy setting with a unique haunted-romance twist. Desperate to solve the mystery of his anonymous hookup, Keene turns to an unlikely ally: his own mother, whose spirit continues to haunt the campus library. His mother, however, has a supernatural agenda of her own. She refuses to cross over until her son finds true love, forcing the commitment-phobic player to confront the possibility that his perfect match has been hiding in plain sight all along.

Fans of paranormal romance will be swept away by this emotional, laugh-out-loud journey. Linda Kage delivers a story that is as haunting as it is heartwarming, proving that sometimes, love requires a little help from the other side.

Exceptional in every way

This entire series is the most incredible series I have ever read. This book is my favorite so far, although I've said that after the first 4 as well. The author has managed to capture the beauty, pain, sorrow, and happiness in each character. They are all so incredibly portrayed, and the depth they each have is sensational. )

Five Stars for Keene and Waverly

I have a new favorite leading man in Linda Kage’s fantastic “The Seven” series, and I cannot believe I am writing this… but it is Keene Duggar! Prior to reading this story, Keene was honestly the least appealing character to me among his group of friends. He seemed like too much of a player and too over the top, plus his obsession with charming every woman in his path felt off-putting, because I could not imagine a world in which reading his perspective as a hero would be believable or...

I cried; I laughed a lot; I’ll be haunted by this story for a long time

I have read all the books about “the seven” and so far, this is my favorite. Of course, I have thought that about the last book that I have read in this series anyway. The others were not as funny but they did not have Keene Dugger as the main male character either. His pick-up lines are so out there: “I hope you have maps in this place because I think I just got lost in your eyes.” And, his perfect foil is Waverly Frank, the Library Girl. She is also from the grief center where the seven met...

All the feels

This book is my favorite of The Seven series so far, although I love them all. Zero Chance is hysterical most of the time, devastating some of the time, and heartwarming all throughout the book. And don't even get me started on the absolutely beautiful bond all the men (and their women) of The Seven share. I love that this story was written and I pray it helps many, many people who experience the same pain. )

I Went in Skeptical—Came Out Sobbing (and Swooning)

Honestly, I was a little hesitant going into this book. I had a feeling it might turn into one of those one-sided, unrequited love stories—where the heroine is hopelessly in love while the hero is off being a total manwhore, hooking up with everyone except her. That trope really bugs me, especially since we already know from the previous books how much Keene loves to flirt and sleep around. And yes, that was kind of the premise here… but I didn’t need to worry at all—because I love anything...
