The Savannah Gondolier (The Saints of Savannah)

by Leigh Ebberwein

About this book

Maggie traded her corporate aspirations for the rhythmic pull of a paddle, finding peace in the winding waterways of Savannah after her father won a struggling kayaking business in a high-stakes poker game. Her life on the water is simple and predictable, until a mysterious gondolier arrives from Venice, carrying the heavy weight of a tragic past and a desperate need to escape his own history.

As Leo navigates the currents of Tybee Island, he finds an unexpected anchor in Maggie. Yet, their blossoming connection is haunted by more than just memories. As the boundaries between the living and the spectral blur, this paranormal romance weaves a haunting tapestry of love that transcends geography. Together, they must confront the lingering spirits tethered to the water, discovering that some secrets are meant to be unearthed rather than buried in the deep.

Fans of atmospheric ghost stories will be swept away by this enchanting tale of two souls finding redemption amidst the fog of the Lowcountry. With its lush, evocative setting and a slow-burn romance that defies the veil of death, this story explores whether love can truly survive when the past refuses to stay submerged.

The Savannah Gondolier is an absolute must read! It is set in the lovely waterways of my hometown, Savannah, Ga., but then the setting is also shared with the beautifully described canals of Venice, Italy and the island of Sant’ Erasmus (which I will now have to go and visit!). Reading about Maggie’s life on Tybee Island and Leo’s on Sant’ Erasmus gives the reader a glimpse into two very different cultures of the world, while teaching us that no matter how far or different our lifestyles, love...

Savannah, Venice and the water. Best of everything

This is the second book I have read authored by Leigh Ebberwein. To me, this book shows her continued refinement as an author. Her first book is excellent and well worth the read. This book, to me, develops the characters in even more depth and the descriptions of the locations in Savannah and Venice are spot on. Having grown up in Savannah and having visited Venice brought back many of the described locations to my mind. The main takeaways to me were family, romance, religion and a storyline...
