The Girl Who Didn't Die

by Ruby Jean Jensen

About this book

Miraculously surviving a horrific car accident that plunged her vehicle into icy, deep waters, a young woman finds herself haunted by more than just the memory of the crash. While rescuers are baffled by her impossible escape from a locked car, she feels an inexplicable pull toward a remote, isolated lodge. She is not arriving as a governess or a nurse, but as a woman seeking a new beginning, planning to transform the dark, brooding estate into a hunting lodge for the rugged men who pass through the wilderness.

This chilling ghost story masterfully blends the eerie atmosphere of classic Gothic literature with a dash of dark, paranormal romance. As she settles into the foreboding house, the forced proximity to these unsuspecting male visitors creates a tense, unsettling dynamic. The shadows within the walls seem to watch their every move, and she soon realizes that she did not survive the river by accident—she was spared for a haunting purpose.

If you crave a supernatural read that defies the standard tropes of the genre, this novel offers a sinister, refreshing twist. It is a seductive and terrifying journey where the boundary between the living and the dead dissolves in the mist of the woods.

Reader Reviews

Different premise for going to strange house, she has a decidedly different reason to go there.

Different, in a good way, than usual Gothic Novels, very plausible, not the usual tutor or nurse. )
