The residents of Las Palomas are in a state of panic. La Llorona, a well-known ghost in the town, has been terrorizing tourists and driving them away. In an effort to understand her behavior, the town decides to bring in Gina Castillo: a renowned ghost whisperer.

Gina and her uncle have been running a successful ghost whispering scam for years, but Gina is tired of living a lie. She longs to return to college and pursue a legitimate career, but she can't abandon her uncle who has gotten himself into trouble with a ruthless loan shark. If they can't pay him back, their very lives are in jeopardy.

Despite her reservations, Gina agrees to go to Las Palomas and run the biggest con of her life for enough money to save her uncle. But things become complicated when she is constantly accompanied by Dane Wolfe, the handsome police chief who quickly becomes more than just an escort. However, any chance at a relationship between them will be ruined once he discovers she’s a fake - something that will happen once she confronts Llorona and learns that, in Las Palomas, ghosts are real!
