The Ghost and Miss Hodge

by Caylen McQueen

About this book

Augusta Hodge is a woman of logic and intellect, yet grief leads her to make a foolish investment. When a street vendor peddles a pair of peculiar goggles with the promise that they reveal the unseen, Augusta buys them, desperate for one final glimpse of her late father. It is a whimsical, desperate gamble that she fully expects to be a scam, but the impossible becomes her new reality.

Forced into the role of a governess to escape financial ruin, Augusta finds herself trapped in a household far more complicated than she anticipated. Her employer is abrasive and distant, but he is not the only resident of the estate. Thanks to her new eyewear, she discovers that the man’s young son is lingering in the halls as a restless spirit, and he has no intention of letting her ignore him.

This charming paranormal romance balances heartache with humor, expertly weaving themes of loss with lighthearted banter. What begins as a quest for closure transforms into an unexpected journey of connection and healing. If you are looking for a sweet, ghostly tale that will make you laugh, swoon, and reach for the tissues, this delightful read is the perfect addition to your shelf.

Goggles to view Ghosts!,

November 14, 2024

This was a sweet story of a woman who bought Goggles so she might be able to visit with her deceased father. Left penniless after her father died, she takes a job of governess to a 12 year old boy who last year lost his beloved older brother. She felt lost and the Carrol family were in deep grief from losing the eldest son to a motorcar deadly crash. Lots of love and healing happen but the ending with a HEA will greatly surprise the reader. I recommend this story. )

Cute

Despite the topic of death and seeing spirits, this was actually a light and fun read. I'm not sure how I expected it to end, but it quite satisfactory. It was a short but sweet book, and totally appropriate for October reading. ) One person found this helpful
