1938. Mississippi’s Gulf Coast is thick with humidity, secrets, and the shifting shadows of Cat Island. When Maggie steps across the threshold of the decaying DuMond Manor, she inadvertently awakens a restless spirit that refuses to let her go. What begins as a curiosity quickly spirals into a terrifying haunting, as her nightmares bleed into reality, pulling her toward a tragic, long-buried past.
To survive, Maggie reaches out to Carson Jacobs, the charismatic radio personality known as Mr. Mystery. As the unlikely duo peels back the layers of the manor’s dark history, the line between the living and the dead begins to blur. This historical ghost story masterfully blends chilling suspense with a simmering, slow-burn romance that crackles with Old Hollywood chemistry. The tension is palpable, both in the spectral encounters that lurk in the hallways and the undeniable spark growing between the investigators.
Perfect for fans of atmospheric gothic romance, this page-turner offers a haunting journey where every chapter leaves you desperate for the next. Will Maggie and Carson unravel the curse before they are claimed by the manor, or will their story become just another whisper in the wind? Prepare to be spellbound by this gripping paranormal mystery.

This book was such a page turner! It is broken up into fairly short chapters which I appreciate as a busy mom, because it gives me good stopping points. However, every time I would finish a chapter, I was so hooked that I had to keep reading! Also, this book is definitely a thriller! Towards the last chapters of the book, I was feeling so scared for the characters that I was holding my breath for a long time & having to make myself breathe! )

The Cursed Keepsake drew me in right from the start. It had just the right balance of suspense and cute romance to keep me hooked the whole way through. The characters felt real and grew in a way that made me care about what happened to them. I also appreciated the vivid scene descriptions, which made it easy to picture every setting and added to the overall atmosphere. A great mix of tension, emotion, and beautiful writing! ) One person found this helpful

I absolutely loved this book. At no point did I entirely know where it was going. There were some clues, but it was an amazing read. Truly a page turner. Maggie and Carson are riveting. Buzz was comedic relief, even if he was a pain and always trying to cause problems; the one time Maggie truly needed him, he was there and supportive in the best way. Mary Alice truly wrote a novel that spoke to my heart. )

I loved the story, it keep me reading way into the night. I was introduced to this book by my grandson Jon Tullos who is a student at the Magnet School that Mrs Pouliot is at. )
