Showdown in Mudbug

by Jana De

About this book

Haunted by a past she desperately tried to bury, psychic Raissa Bordeaux has retreated to the shadows of the French Quarter. She manages her eclectic shop in peace, keeping her supernatural gifts carefully hidden from the world. However, when a child vanishes and the restless spirit of Helena Henry demands justice, Raissa is forced out of hiding. To save the innocent, she must risk exposing her true identity to the one man who refuses to believe in anything he cannot touch.

New Orleans Detective Zach Blanchard is a man of logic and concrete facts, and he is convinced that Raissa’s uncanny insights are nothing more than a criminal ruse. Yet, amidst the tension of a high-stakes kidnapping investigation, he finds himself irresistibly drawn to her. This dark romance crackles with chemistry as Zach struggles to reconcile his skepticism with his growing desire to protect the woman who refuses to let him in.

Perfect for fans of urban fantasy, this installment in the Ghost-in-Law series blends spine-tingling paranormal thrills with a simmering, dangerous attraction. If you are looking for a page-turner that balances ghostly mysteries with a gritty, emotional core, this captivating showdown in the bayou is your next must-read obsession.

Great fun!

April 8, 2017

I really didn't think I would love these books. But I do. I got the first one for free and found the cozy mystery with a romance attached struck the right balance to be a fun, quick read. The main characters (Maryse, Sabine, and Raissa) are interesting women. Helena is a hilarious side-kick; she's like the crankier ghostly version of Lula from the Stephanie Plum books. Anyway, learning more about the mysterious Raissa was fun and watching her be such a badass was even better. These are great...

The Mudbug series by Jana DeLeon is a great read!

September 15, 2016

It was a good book, but I preferred the first book in this series. Trouble in Mudbug had me hooked, so naturally I had to read the others. While I still enjoyed this book, the characters, and the plot, the original set the bar high. I will say the author created some wit, humor, suspense, and romance all in one read, which is fantastic and talent on paper. I really enjoy the multidimensions of each character and the twist thrown in to keep the suspense going. If you are looking for an easy,...

Jana DeLeon Does It Again

August 26, 2020

Where has this gal been hiding for so long? She is absolutely one of the best writers I've come across in a long, long, time. Her stories are creative, engaging, with well developed characters and places so you come to know and love (and detest) the good (and bad) characters and feel for their circumstances. I'm not sure why she is lumped into the \"Romance Novel\" category, because her ability as a detective story writer is second to none. I was devastated when we lost Robert Parker, but here...

Really does keep getting better with each new book

April 24, 2014

I'm not sure how it's possible, but I truly believe each book in the series seems to get better with each new story. I love the characters, they are so distinctive, well written, and believable. It's time well spent trying to figure out the mystery, while laughing hysterically at the antics of Helena, who in the beginning of the series, made you want to strangle her, and know, after getting to know her, she's become endearingly annoying, yet always laugh out loud funny. I can't say enough about...

MUDBUG

April 12, 2014

This is the second time I have read these 3 books on the antics of 3 friends in Mudbug. I found the series quite refreshing and full of humor and somewhat a spoof on \"psychic\" abilities. It was a fun read for me. And could such things happen in the bayous surround New Orleans? Why not? I thought the author did a great job with the dialogue and kept me turning the pages again and not skipping pages as I read. I will read more of DeLeon's books just because I think they are fun. I thought she...
