by Bridget Thomas
Hannah Smith thought the nightmare was behind her once Reuben Tate faced justice, but the Freak House estate is far from a sanctuary. When an unnatural, predatory creature is unleashed upon the grounds, the fragile safety of the household shatters. Now, Hannah and the others must hunt a monster that defies logic, turning their home into a high-stakes battlefield where survival is never guaranteed.
This gripping second installment of the Freak House trilogy masterfully blends paranormal suspense with intense emotional stakes. As chaos descends, Hannah finds herself fighting a different kind of battle: one against her own heart. She is spiraling into a forbidden romance with Jack, a man whose lethal touch promises destruction, creating a tension that is as dangerous as the demons they hunt.
Bridget Thomas delivers a perfect fusion of mystery, adventure, and slow-burn angst that will captivate fans of supernatural romance. With atmospheric hauntings and a cast of deeply compelling characters, the narrative makes the paranormal feel hauntingly real. If you are looking for a story where sparks fly amidst life-or-death stakes, this addictive read is your next obsession. Prepare for a heart-pounding journey that leaves you desperate for the final chapter.

4.5 🌟This story grew on me . There is a decent amount of mystery, hurdles, paranormal elements, interesting characters and spark worthy chemistry with a bit of angst. I enjoyed the first book, but did not purchase the second right away. The thing is...I found myself thinking about the story and wanting to find out what was going to happen to the FMC & MMC. I enjoyed it. Recommended for a quick historical/mystery/paranormal romance fix. *There are some elements of violence & light teasing...

This 2nd book in the Freak House Trilogy has all of that and a great lead in to the next book, Heart Burn. I am enjoying these characters and just how normal the author makes the paranormal. The characters are believable as are their gifts. It is also nice that the book is not overly narrated. The characters tell most of the story through their dialog. I can hardly wait to find out who summoned the demon, how Hannah is cured (if and all), more about the background of these characters (Bollard...

Doomed, doomed. Looks like I have another great trilogy to keep checking on so I can immediately pre-order #3. Book 2 was ever better than the first. A really good love story (maybe more than one) is developing in a most interesting fashion, and paranormal activities abound. The action is riveting in places, with good guys and totally nasty villains in abundance. Couldn't recommend a fantasy/romance any better. )

This book, like all her others, does not disappoint. And I am going to start the last book in the series straight away. It will be exciting to see what the conclusions of everything will be, so many unanswered questions )

Two books through, and still very few answers. I think C.J. was inspired by J.K. Rowling and failed. The love interest is keeping me satisfied enough to raise my rating from 2 stars to 3. ) 2 people found this helpful
