Once Hunted, Twice Shy: The Happily Everlasting Series, Book 2

by Mandy M. Roth

About this book

Welcome to Everlasting, Maine, where there's no such thing as normal.

Wolf-shifter Hugh Lupine simply wants to make it through the month and win the bet he has with his best friend. He's not looking to date anyone, or to solve a murder, but when a breathtaking beauty runs him over (literally), he's left no choice but to take notice of the quirky, sassy newcomer. She'd be perfect if it wasn't for the fact she's the granddaughter of the local supernatural hunter. Even if he can set aside his feelings about her family, Penelope is his complete opposite in all ways.

Penelope Messing wanted to get away from the harsh reminder that her boyfriend of two years dumped her. Several pints of ice cream and one plane ticket to Maine later, she's ready to forget her troubles. At least for a bit. When she arrives in the sleepy little fishing town of Everlasting for a surprise visit with her grandfather, she soon learns that outrunning one problem can lead to a whole mess of others. She finds herself the prime suspect in a double homicide. She doesn't even kill spiders, let alone people, but local law enforcement has their eyes on her.

The secrets of Everlasting come to light, and Penelope has to not only accept that things that go bump in the night are real, but apparently she's destined for a man who sprouts fur and has a bizarre obsession with fish sticks. Can they clear Penelope's name and set aside their differences to find true love?

Hunters, Shapeshifters and Grandpa’s stories are true? You never know what you will find in Everlasting.

Once Haunted, Twice Shy by Mandy M. Roth is the second book in the Happily Everlasting Series. The story take place in Everlasting, Maine a small town along the coast, “where there’s no such thing as normal.” I have to say that this book made me laugh so hard, my husband really thought I was losing it. There are so many great characters in this book and series. I am going try to break it down a bit. Let’s start with Penelope, she is our female lead. Penelope works for an auction house in...

Return to Everlasting

January 20, 2019

The crew is just as quirky as it ever was in Everlasting, now they have a new addition who fits right in no matter who her family is. This book is full of laughter, joy, family, friends, a little bit of mystery and love. A perfect addition to Everlasting! I can’t wait to see what happens next. )

Fun cozy

I loved Penelope and Hugh's story. The concept of different writers writng the same series is an interesting concept. All of the stories so far have blended well together and the integrity of the characters has remained intact . Started the series because I love Jana de Leon. Now I get to experience a couple new authors and will be reviewing their individual works . I love that the main characters established a bond as kids . I love that Penelope's grandfather is not only feisty, but...

Fun, entertaining, lighthearted story

Penelope was ridiculed and made to feel worthless by her ex boyfriend. But, she is far from that! Although she is quirky, she is beautiful, caring, loving and talented. When she arrives in Everlasting to see her grandfather, things start to happen. When she accidentally hits Hugh, her world really changes. Fun, lighthearted story of discovery, family secrets and love. )

A bit meh, but okay (spoilers)

This book was a bit meh. I have also read the 5th installment to this series, Eclipse of the Hunt and it was better, even though it also has some of the same problems than this book. Again, the falling in love, on the female part, too fast. I understand the shifters falling fast, because they have the whole mating thing. These women, who, I have to clarify, are not human but still should have some doubt or confusion about things and not just be like \"oh, well that happened''. Again this book...
