Mercury Raine: a Whisper in the Wind

by Sarah M. Eden

About this book

Mercury Raine is the kingdom’s most enigmatic ghost broker, a man who navigates a world of spectral secrets while desperately outrunning his own dark history. When he takes on the spirited Tacey Wilde as his apprentice, he expects a simple lesson in the trade. Instead, he finds himself trapped in a volatile game of forced-proximity where the lines between mentor and student blur. Tacey’s presence brings more than just curiosity; it brings ghosts who seem to know the intimate details of a life Mercury has fought hard to bury.

Set within the hallowed halls of an exclusive academy, this paranormal series offers a fresh, inventive take on the ghost genre. It is not a tale of jump-scares, but one of intrigue and atmospheric tension. The stakes skyrocket when new clients arrive with a ghost from Mercury’s past, forcing him to keep his enemies close and his secrets closer.

Readers are calling this series a uniquely addictive experience, praising its original world-building and distinct character voices. While the fast-paced, episodic nature of the installments leaves fans breathless and craving the next chapter, the undeniable chemistry and lingering mysteries make it a must-read for any paranormal romance enthusiast.

This book is so fun! It leaves you wanting more! Jake does an incredible job with all the voices, and you really feel like you are in the story when you listen to it. I love the idea of ghost brokering, and I love the grapple Mercury continually has with himself because he wants to be honest, and yet can't be in order to protect himself. I am not a ghost story person, but I love this book! Fun, original, not scary! )

Just finished the first and second books in the series. They are great; the only negative is these books are too short. They are not complete stories and end abruptly. The reason for this is presumably to sell the various entries in the series, so I'm glad they're available on KU. My favorite part of the series so far, besides the promise of slow-burn romance (which at this point is still just a friendship) is the variety of ghostly personalities included. This author has a way of making them...

The plot thickens!

If Sarah writes it, I’m going to read it, and let me tell you this is NEXT LEVEL! A ghost story for the ages-sweet enough to enjoy and spooky enough to give you goosebumps in the funnest ways. Mercury Raine is a Ghost Broker, making his living exchanging ghosts for the fashionably inclined. He has his secrets…and a storm is brewing. I love the addition of Tacey and how she supports Mercury. The gothic vibes and historical setting are brilliant. The audio is also amazingly performed. )

Love it!

After finishing this book, I am so ready for book 3. March cannot come fast enough. If you’re looking for a unique, ghost and regency inspired story. This novella series is for you! Jake has done an incredible job voicing the various ghosts and he’s easy to follow the story! Great voice acting! )
