by Denise Moncrief
Seeking a fresh start after a volatile relationship, Laurel Standridge inherits a remote Arkansas estate, hoping the silence of Laurel Heights will heal her fractured spirit. But the house is far from empty. When her cousin is found murdered at the gates, Laurel is thrust into a terrifying web of deceit where the past refuses to stay buried. The shadows of the house pulse with malevolent energy, and she quickly realizes that her nightmares have followed her into the mountains.
Caught in the middle of a bitter property dispute, Chase Peterson arrives as an adversary but stays as a protector. As he peels back the layers of Laurel’s trauma and the estate’s dark history, he discovers that the unexplained thuds and ghostly whispers are not just echoes of the past. They are warnings. Together, they must navigate a lethal blend of human vengeance and spectral unrest to survive the night.
This gripping paranormal romance masterfully balances spine-chilling ghost encounters with a slow-burn connection that transcends the physical realm. Denise Moncrief delivers a haunting narrative filled with twists that will keep you guessing until the final page. If you crave atmospheric tension and a love story that defies the grave, step inside Laurel Heights—if you dare.

Everything you look for in a ghost story!! Be prepared once you start this book it will be impossible to put it down!! Denise Moncrief has an amazing gift for telling a truly spooky spine-chilling story (be prepared for the goose-bumps)! Her characters are so well developed and interesting making the reader that much more invested in the story...cheering for main characters! FYI: Although this is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone however if the rest of her books are anything like...

This book was a good balance between the characters and the story of the house. It was a interesting plot and it ended well. The characters were strong and I enjoyed the ghost. )

This book kept me going, didn't want to put it down. Two items need attention, when they were eating at the truck stop it said Chase pounded his fist on the steering wheel. No steering wheel in a restaurant booth. Also extra ammo for handgun is kept in a magazine not a clip. Overall a really great book. )
