Lancaster House

by Taylor Dean

About this book

After a devastating betrayal by her fiancé and the loss of her father, Zoe Grayson flees Arizona to seek a fresh start. She finds it in the form of a crumbling 1920s Victorian mansion that promises a clean slate. But as Zoe breathes new life into the structure, she discovers that the house is far from empty. She isn't just restoring a home; she is falling for its enigmatic builder, Mr. Lancaster, a man who remains unseen yet undeniably present.

What begins as a charming renovation project quickly spirals into a haunting mystery. Zoe soon realizes that the secrets hidden behind the mansion’s walls are tied to a man who refuses to leave his property. When her frantic attempts to explain his presence lead to her commitment in a psychiatric hospital, Zoe is forced to confront the fine line between madness and magic.

This gripping paranormal romance masterfully weaves together the haunting allure of a gothic setting with a poignant second-chance love story. As Zoe schemes to escape the institution and return to the man who haunts her heart, readers will be swept away by this atmospheric tale that proves some connections are strong enough to transcend even the veil of death.

The heroine buys a mansion and starts the renovations. She soon discovers she is not alone, but when she tries to talk to the police, she finds herself committed to an institution. The story develops through her talks with a therapist. I definitely enjoyed the twists in this story and I liked the way it developed. ) One person found this helpful

A haunting read with a logical, likeable protagonist

I bought Lancaster House on a whim, thinking that the synopsis sounded cool and the cover was nifty. I can usually get into haunted house stories and am rather fond of trying author I've never heard of, so I figured I would give this one a shot. Taylor Dean did not disappoint! I'm typically not a fan of paranormal romance, which is ultimately what this turned out to be -- but this one is far better than most I've read. The book is framed by a mental health setting. A woman is being held at a...

A Bit of a Letdown

July 10, 2012

Initial Thoughts: I am obsessed with old houses, so as soon as I read \"1920's Victorian Mansion\", I was sold. The Pros: I loved the author's attention to detail in regards to the house. It's apparent that she did some extensive research to accurately portray the house as she did. As a 1920's house junkie (I live in a 1924 American Bungalow), all of the details were spot on. The hidden rooms that were inspired by the Winchester House were awesome treats throughout the book I liked that they...

Freaky - Paranormal Headtrip Love story

I got this book for free after seeing it on the Kindle Buffett list. I did not know the author and just thought the concept would interest me. I enjoyed the book very much and found very few errors. With that said, the story was so frustrating for me because of the torment of Zoe and Andre that I am not sure that I want to or can read Book 2 (Middle Aisle). 20- something Interior Designer Zoey Carson moves to San Jose, CA from Arizona after selling her business and purchases a Victorian home...
