Gatewalker

by Brian Bjorn

About this book

Lex has spent her entire life as the ultimate outsider, navigating the suffocating social hierarchy of her small-town high school while burdened by her father’s eccentric obsession with the occult. She is used to being the girl who sees things others don’t—specifically, the unsettling, spectral figures appearing in her photographs. She has long since accepted her solitude, valuing her anonymity over the hollow drama of her peers.

Everything shifts when Jason arrives. Unlike the typical crowd, he is thoughtful, genuine, and, most importantly, he shares her terrifying secret: he can see the ghosts too. Just as Lex begins to dream of a normal connection, Jason falls into a sudden, inexplicable coma. The arrival of her deceased grandmother’s spirit confirms her worst fears: Jason’s soul has been abducted into the perilous, shadowy realms of the afterlife.

This gripping paranormal romance masterfully blends the classic academy setting with a dark, high-stakes supernatural mystery. As Lex embarks on a dangerous rescue mission, the lines between the living and the dead blur. If you are looking for an addictive, unique universe where the stakes are soul-deep and the romance is haunting, this journey into the unknown is your next must-read obsession.

Unique

The story exciting and the universe Brian creates is unique. I don't know of another universe quite like this one. And I can't guess what's coming next. I've read excerpts of another book by the author and am so excited for that one to come out, too. Gatewalker is about a young girl who doesn't quite fit into her community. She struggles to find her way in the world of the spirits in search of a young man she grew fond of who may be dying in the strange beyond. )

Totally worth it!

Wonderfully written book I couldn't put it down, which ment I was reading til early morning. I loved the dance invite, and felt my heart pound through each adventurous step into the unknown. I felt her horror, lack of hope and grief. I cheered her on when she struggled on. In other words I got engrossed and loved every minute of it. The author managed to combine humor, teenage angst, suspense, and adventure into a page turning work of genius and I eagerly await the sequels. )

Great Read

I needed something to read while traveling. I had heard about this book and got it on my tablet. I was pleasantly surprised to find it most interesting. I identified with Lex right away. She has an interesting adventure into the afterlife. The author does a great job of describing the places and people. I'd only read about half of the book when I reached my destination. I wanted to know what was going to happen so I finished it the next day. )

predjudice?

Wow I want more. I am close to the Author. Brian does things with word pictures that remind me of Tolkien, or Herbert, or even \"Dark Summer\" by Iris Johansen; my personal favorites. I was slightly confused twice. Lex's power after \"escape\" and the non Jason. I believe I may have been so wrapped in the story that I read too fast for my old brain to keep up. An escape from my own mixed up world. A delightful page turner.Give me more! )

A really great story!

Lex just wanted to be left alone, a typical goth girl, in a small Texas community, But when Jason came into her life, everything changed! Follow Lex in her supernatural journey through the darkest corners of eternity, as she comes to terms with her gifts, and her love for a boy who shared the same earth-shaking talents. I really love this book. Keep them coming Brian Bjorn! )
