I absolutely love this series so much! Tobias is so strong, and his determination to move forward and trust in Jake is so beautiful. This was perfect with Tobias helping Jake with hunts and Jake's happiness with Tobia's progress. I loved that their connection is slowly growing, and with Tobia's age, I feel like it's grown at a perfect speed and not too fast. The chapters from freak camp were terrifying because I get the worst feelings about Toby possibly going back, but I'll just hope only good...

On the road

The series is so good. The journey continues with Toby and Jake on the road. You get to see them interact in a different environment and how their personalities start to evolve (in a good way). There’s an adventure, high stakes, tenderness, and strength. Toby is still struggling significantly with the aftermath of the camp, and Jake is trying his hardest to continue to provide a sense of safety. It is the slowest of the burns just FYI. )

A Good Story in These Times

The tale of Jake and Tobias has kept me interested through three books now. It is hard to describe, but some of the story and even the characters remind me of the TV series Supernatural with its dark tales yet hopeful underlying story. The commentary about who is a monster ties in with what we read in the news every day. To have a hopeful relationship in the midst of all that is what keeps me reading this series and asking for more. ) 2 people found this helpful

Finally!!

Great story. The thought behind it all makes this a great book ...and I have read all three. At times it gets heavy, but worth it. Definite be slow burn.. But it's definitely sweet. The relationship between Jake and Tobias is hard, loving, sad... But definitely real so ya...I was doing the happy dance at the end The build up for the other characters has me ready to preorder the next book. Thanks for an awesome read... Finally paid off

Freedom overall was a great experience. I will say these first three books have read more like part one, two and three rather than separate individual books. That's more of a word to the wise than a genuine critique. Out of any book I've read, this has to be the best trauma arc i have seen portrayed.
