Mudville is back with a chilling new mystery that proves dead men tell tales, especially when they are as insufferable as Professor Lionel. When this pompous academic ends up as the latest cadaver in the research lab of Natalie’s grumpy, over-protective boyfriend Liam, the small-town bookshop owner finds herself the prime suspect in a murder investigation. With her reputation on the line and a ghost who refuses to stop nitpicking, Natalie must clear her name before the local gossip mill buries her for good.
This urban fantasy gem perfectly blends a cozy, small-town atmosphere with high-stakes paranormal chaos. Fans of the grumpy-sunshine dynamic will swoon over the chemistry between Natalie and Liam, while the found-family antics of the Ladies Amateur Detective Society provide the heart and humor that keep the series addictive. As Natalie navigates ghostly encounters and local politics, the banter remains sharp, witty, and laugh-out-loud funny.
If you are looking for your next paranormal romance obsession, this story delivers the perfect mix of icy winter charm and spicy secrets. It is a delightful, low-angst escape for anyone who loves academy settings, quirky sidekicks, and a dash of supernatural sleuthing. Welcome back to the graveyard shift—it is going to be a wild ride.

Wow! Cat has done it again! This time Natalie meets an unsavory character when she agrees to a panel in Salem (of all places). About a month later she encounters him again as a ghost. Very interesting character to get under Natalie's skin. It comes down to her to solve his murder. She also agrees to publish his last book - with Harper's help, of course. Glad everyone, living and ghosts alike, are able to solve two mysteries. FANTASTIC job Cat! I would recommend this book! )
