Bury Me Softly

by Persephone Steele

About this book

October Halloway is the human embodiment of October 31st, living in a year-round haunted house that is the bane of her HOA’s existence. Between her obsession with glitter-covered Ouija boards and her penchant for leaving cupcakes at forgotten graves, it is safe to say her dating life is a catastrophe. Most men flee the moment they hear a bathroom mirror scream, but October is about to discover that the dead make for much more attentive partners.

After a tipsy ritual goes hilariously wrong, October accidentally raises three gorgeous, undead men from the earth. What follows is a chaotic, supernatural romp that perfectly blends laugh-out-loud humor with a surprisingly tender core. As she navigates the logistics of dating skeletons, she finds herself entangled in a hauntingly beautiful exploration of grief, connection, and the thin line between the living and the departed.

If you are hunting for the perfect spooky season read, this paranormal romance delivers high-octane chemistry and endless charm. It is a festive, quirky, and surprisingly emotional journey that proves love can transcend even the grave. Grab a pumpkin spice latte and prepare to fall for the most unconventional—and undeniably hot—haunted romance of the year.

Hauntingly beautiful Halloween novel

November 17, 2025

Bury Me Softly is a hauntingly beautiful exploration of loss, love, and the complexities of grief. The FMC, October, is grappling with the aftermath of a significant loss, exploring her journey through pain and healing and the author skillfully balances moments of heartbreak with glimmers of hope, creating a narrative that is both heartbreaking and uplifting. This is a must-read for those who appreciate emotionally rich stories that delves into the complexities of life and love and I definitely...

Halloween RomCom lots of chemistry and laughs

November 20, 2025

Bury Me Softly is a festive paranormal rom-com by Persephone Steele. October is the physical embodiment of Halloween. However her dating life is a mess, so when she accidentally raises three men from the grave to be her lovers it isn't a stretch. This story is filled with plenty of Halloween sights and sounds. October is definitely quirky and doesn't care what others think. Chaos seems to follow her. The story is filled with vivid descriptions that had me laughing so hard about various odd...

A perfect read for spooky season

November 6, 2025

I was down for this book from the start because I too absolutely LOVE Halloween. I mean I shop for home decor at Spirit Halloween that stays out year round so I related to October on the whole turning my house into a year-round haunted house. If that didn't have me, then the fact that Persephone said she wrote this unsupervised and regretted nothing absolutely would have! I'm not going to spoil anything in this review either. This is going to be one unhinged spooky ride that you'll have to jump...

Different

Wow this book was definitely different. It is chaotic at times and I really wasn't sure what was happening through parts of it. The Fmc is a Halloween loving mess. She is a bit manic but fun loving. The ending was unusual but definitely fit with the theme of the book. This was not my favorite book by this author. It had its ups and downs and took me time to make it through it. ) 2 people found this helpful

\"The line between sane & insane is a ribbon I like to tie into ridiculous bows\"

The title for the review is one of my favorite lines from this book and really describes the FMC that and the time in the book she said about herself \"I am a sovereign nation of one gremlin\". I love her and I love this book. I don't often by physically copies of books, I love my kindle app, but I will be buying this one. The emotions I didn't want to feel (ewww feelings) were all there in this book but in a way that I was ok with, mostly, I don't like wet eyes. The spice was great, the words...
