What if love itself is the greatest threat?
Welcome to Blackwood Manor—where even the shadows keep secrets you weren't meant to discover. I thought I was taking just another caretaker position at a crumbling Gothic estate in the English countryside. How wrong I was. The Blackwood family mansion harbors something darker than neglect, wrapped in whispers and forbidden romance. My unwanted gift as a medium lets me hear ghosts, and now I'm tangled with someone who shouldn't exist. But there's more than heartbreak haunting these walls—something hungry watches from the corners, and it wants us both. The deeper I fall into this dark romance between living and dying, the clearer the mystery becomes: my heart might be the only key—or the trap—that seals our fate.
Step into my world if you dare, but consider yourself warned: some thresholds can't be uncrossed.

It seems like it's hard to find true gothic love stories these days but this book has a true gothic and haunting feel to it. I love how descriptive the story is and really makes you feel like you are there. There are a few twists in this story that really leave you on the edge of your seat and there is no way to predict what happens next. I especially loved the love story between Frenchie and Evelynn. It shows that love is strong enough to existed in both worlds the living and the dead. )

After having endured so much pain in her thirty-eight years, Evelynn - a witch who can communicate with spirits of the dead - needs a fresh start. So, the position of caretaker to Blackwood Manor calls to her. But she soon learns the manor has a dark history, and the secrets and lies of the past haunt it. This is a marvelously gothic horror/romance story. The setting gave me shivers and the twists and turns kept me reading to discover the truth of the manor's dark history. Evelynn's mixed sense...

I expected more from this. It has the potential to be so much more if the author dug in and expanded on the FMC witchy-ness. I expected the haunted manor to link back to the beginning of the story with a major plot twist as her aunt was a dark witch. There’s a granule of it there, but I wasn’t wowed by it. The writing style was somewhat choppy and this just wasn’t for me. ) One person found this helpful

Novella it may be, but the story is as full as it should be. Gothic romance, sigh, spine tingling chills, thrills and a haunted house. It was hard to put down and now I am excited to see how the next story will go. Well done author, well done. )
