Eldrith Manor

by Yasmine Galenorn
When fun-loving witch Maddy Gallowglass moves to Bedlam to turn an old mansion into a magical bed-and-breakfast, the last thing she expects is to meet her match in the gorgeous vampire Aegis.
As Maudlin and Aegis prepare to open the Bewitching Bedlam B&B to guests, they immediately find themselves embroiled in a battle for customers. Ralph Greyhoof, the owner of the Heart’s Desire Inn, doesn’t like to share. The conflict heats up when Maddy finds a local witch dead in the rose garden. The woman looks a lot like Maudlin and suspicion falls on Ralph. But Maddy knows that as competitive as Ralph is, he wouldn’t resort to murder. Maudlin and Aegis set out to find the killer, even as their own relationship is put to the test. Aegis’s old flame has returned, determined to win him back, no matter what it takes.

I really liked this book. It had mystery, tragedy , romance, steam, intrigue, everything that would keep me interested in a story. I really like the characters and can't wait to read more about them! )

Review first published on jenasbookreviews.blogspot.com The first full novel in the Bewitching Bedlam series. Maddie is working hard to get her B&B ready to open for business as she is also getting accustomed to her new life in Bedlam and her hot new vampire boyfriend, Aegis. Unfortunately there are those that aren't so keen to see her succeed, the worst of which is Aegis's ex-girlfriend who can't stand the fact that he left her and moved on with his life. Then there is the owner of the other...

Maddy is having problems as she is about to open. Neighbors are one thing but a dead body is no good for business. She soon discovers that she is the intended target and must uncover who it is before they finish the job. This book was a great intro to this character... well if you don't count the prequel. In this book you actually get to see more of Bedlam and learn about the interesting people who are drawn there. A must read! )

This series starts strong, with a tie in to the old tale if Tom of Bedlam and Mad Maudlin. As usual. Galenorn has created a vibrant world with interesting characters. Her heroes have relatable flaws, that make them \"human\" and therefore more likely to capture the reader's interest. Galenorn is adept at closing one story while leading into a new chapter. Bedlam is intriguing, Maddy and crew are fascinating. I look forward to more stories set on the island. )

The story started out pretty good (even through the bit of forced sexiness at the beginning), but I only made it to about 39%. I couldn't stop focusing on the fact that the main character contradicted herself when she was taking to Delia about Ralph. This was after the murder. She was talking about how could Ralph talk to her in the bakery without being surprised if he \"thought\" he had killed her the night before. That wasn't how the timeline worked though. She had the altercation with Ralph...
