by Bridget Thomas
A malevolent infestation of restless spirits has descended upon the Freak House, and for the gifted spirit medium Cara, the sheer volume of spectral activity is far beyond her singular control. When she is forced to summon the enigmatic Quin for backup, their reunion sparks more than just a battle against the supernatural. As they navigate the chilling mystery of why these ghosts refuse to cross over, the pair must bridge the gap between their complicated pasts to save the residents from an encroaching darkness.
This gripping second installment of the Freak House trilogy masterfully blends high-stakes ghost hunting with the simmering tension of a slow-burn romance. Readers who crave a paranormal mystery grounded in atmospheric tension and witty chemistry will find themselves hooked by the dynamic between the two leads. The narrative expertly weaves together the mundane struggles of life in the Freak House with the terrifying unknown of the spirit realm, creating a world that feels both grounded and hauntingly vast.
As Cara peels back the layers of Quin’s guarded history, she realizes that the ghosts are only the beginning of her troubles. Secrets long buried threaten to dismantle everything she thought she knew, leading to a twist that will leave you breathless. If you are searching for a supernatural page-turner that balances spectral chills with authentic emotional stakes, this story is your next must-read obsession.

I really enjoyed this series. The writing was superb and I didn't find myself wanting to get out a red pencil and start marking all the misspelled words and sentences that made no sense. The characters were well developed and I felt as though I was part of the story. )

I love all of C J Archer's books I've read so far. This one has just enough romance plus the supernatural. It is a great read if you like this genre. )

Another adventure with the paranormal except its more mundane. A bit of mystery still lingers and a twist that makes you go hmmmmm. I was glad to see Quin return if only for the moment. I am also anxious to see how the relationship between him and Cara is resolved. ) One person found this helpful
