Crown Me Dead: A Dark Fantasy Romance (Heartstring Duet)

by Azalea Crowley
Gwendolyn is a cynical dollmaker whose world revolves around the mundane pressures of her job and a quiet, solitary hobby. Her life is a carefully curated mask, one that begins to fracture when she encounters a mysterious antique dealer named Ambrosius. When he offers her the chance to craft the doll of her dreams, she accepts, unaware that the price of such artistry is far higher than mere currency.
This captivating horror romance masterfully blends the banality of daily life with a slow-burn descent into madness. At the heart of the story is an intoxicating demon-deal that binds Gwendolyn to a man who is as beautiful as he is predatory. Ambrosius is an ancient, unsettling force who awakens a vicious, consuming appetite within her, forcing Gwendolyn to confront the darkness she has long kept tucked away.
If you are craving a paranormal romance that prioritizes deep, authentic character arcs and a creeping, atmospheric dread, this is your next obsession. It is a story about transformation, asking the haunting question of what happens when the one you desire makes you worse. Prepare for a deliciously demonic experience that lingers in your mind long after the final page is turned.

This was such a captivating experience. While things moved at bit of a moderate to slow pace in the beginning it was a beautiful descent into the madness. I was not a horror girl until I became an Azalea Crowley girl and for her I would read anything! I loved this more than I ever would have believed I was capable of. There is something so perfect to me when in a monster romance the human love interest becomes more monster. I love that dynamic so much more than when the reverse. I can’t even...

This was such an interesting and cool read. All the mix of horror elements and real world banality of everyday living was amazing. I loved that the horror built up slowly to a crescendo at the end that was gory and satisfying in the best way. The parallels of Gwen figuratively masking to get through life and Ambrosius literally masked as a cursed demon peddler in a human shell was eye opening. The relationship was weird and hot and weird and messy ha ha ha )

The characterization is what stood out to me the most in this book. The characters were so deeply unique and well-paired as well as both of them having excellent arcs over the course of their romance developing. The ending was satisfying, the creepiness was on point, the romance and smut was top tier. This was a book with visuals that have stayed in my head months after and characters that make my heart ache. I stayed up late to finish the book and overall am so grateful for authors like...

😈 The rundown: Gwendolyn only cares about her job insofar as it pays for her doll making hobby. When one of Gwen’s favorite customers lets her know where she can find the rare doll of her dreams, she’s desperate to have it, no matter what, and the brash, beautiful demon, Ambrosius, who runs the antique shop is eager to take advantage. Surely a single kiss is a fair price, right? Never mind that the memory of it, and other things, now haunts Gwen. 😈 Am I glad I read it? Despite some issues in...
