Wicked As Sin (The Accidental Exorcist Book 1)

by Jennifer Chance

About this book

For fifteen years, she served as the secret weapon behind one of Chicago’s most elite exorcists. But when her mentor vanishes, she is left to face a cold, terrifying truth: the darkness she spent her life hunting is no longer lurking in the shadows—it is festering within her own skin.

Struggling to contain a malevolent entity that hungers for control, she accepts a high-stakes job at a sprawling, corrupt estate. What begins as a routine cleanse quickly spirals into a descent through a jagged demonic underworld. As the lines between savior and sinner blur, she finds herself locked in a lethal, slow-burn dance with the very demon she is sworn to eradicate. He is a master of temptation, and she is a woman fighting a war against her own forbidden desires.

This dark urban fantasy is a masterclass in tension, perfectly blending high-stakes academy vibes with a gritty, heart-pounding enemies-to-lovers arc. It is a visceral tale of demon deals, moral ambiguity, and the terrifying beauty of being consumed by the enemy. If you crave paranormal romance that is as vicious as it is addictive, prepare to lose yourself in a story where the most dangerous monsters are the ones we refuse to let go.

Wonderful author

I couldn’t put this one down. Thoroughly enjoyed this new series. My favorite part of Jennifer’s books is the supporting cast - they’re always people I’d want to hang out with, especially knowing they’d have my back in all my adventures. If this is your first Jennifer Chance book - you’re in luck, she has a great library of story’s to read. ) One person found this helpful

Body shared with a demon

Exorcism never sounds pretty but in this case it is also mean-spirited. Not that demons really deserve nice things anyway. )

Wholly unexpected fun and revamping of exorcism as a theme!

I was very afraid that the basis of the storyline, exorcism, might be a tired theme, but I should have known better! Jenn Stark does nothing expected, ever. And Wicked as Sin is no exception. Who would have thought someone could make accidentally exorcising demons into a profession? Well, Delia certainly managed. And managed well, if at times clumsily. But, then, she does know demons...intimately. I won't go into detail because I don't do spoilers, but I will say that the method behind the...

Dark paranormal romance

When I started this book, I was worried I wouldn't be able to get into it. Let me tell you, I was HOOKED after the first few chapters. The unreliable narrator in Delia, Mordechai's mysteriousness, Palmerious with his darkness, Max and his down-home feel, Claire never giving up on Delia, Steve never giving up on Delia, Officer Hernandez with her caring nature and just all of the characters. This book was beautifully written and will draw you in closer and closer the further you get into the...
