A Forever Unrooting of Jade and Hickory (The Rooted Realm)

Belladonna is drowning in a sea of crushing guilt, haunted by a past mistake that demands a heavy price. Desperate to balance the scales and redeem herself, she enters a dangerous pact, trading her freedom for a chance at atonement. She expects to be a mere servant, a pawn in a dark game of supernatural politics. Instead, she finds herself auctioned off to Rusalka, a powerful and devious succubus who has far more intoxicating plans for her new acquisition.
This spellbinding entry in the A Deal with a Demon series masterfully blends high-stakes paranormal romance with deep, emotional healing. While the demon-deal trope sets the stage for a tense power dynamic, the relationship between Belladonna and Rusalka subverts expectations. Rather than demanding submission, Rusalka offers a sanctuary, inviting the soft-hearted Belladonna to shed her burdens and step into the role of a true partner.
For readers seeking a story that balances simmering chemistry with profound character growth, this is the perfect escape. It is a lush, atmospheric journey that proves even those who feel most unlovable can find their place in a world of shadows. If you are looking for a romance that feels both dangerously seductive and incredibly tender, this is your next obsession.

With each book in the A Deal With A Demon series, I fall deeper and deeper in love with these characters and this realm. They all think they’re so flawed and unlovable or undeserving, but they’re all so kind and caring at their cores. I loved Belladonna and Rusalka’s love story. Belladonna had been broken and beaten down by her fiercely religious family. She was never able to truly be herself, but Rusalka saw her emotional bruises and scars and helped Belladonna see that desire isn’t shameful...

So I'm going to preface this by saying this is the first book in the series I read, but I loved it! The way this to me felt very healing and freeing- I grew up in a religious household (my grandfather was a pastor) and feeling sexual desire for women/more than one partner/desire in general was frowned upon, and I felt dirty when I had fantasies. This book was very freeing to me and I loved it. As a lesbian, this book hit home for me in more ways than one. My only small critiques are that the...

I really enjoyed how soft and sensitive Belladonna was allowed to be in comparison to the previous other human women who all had some tough edges to them. Belladonna is very clearly a lover and not a fighter and it was a breath of fresh air to see Rusulka embrace it so openly and easily. My only issue is what lost it a star and that’s the editing. Multiple words misspelled, incorrect punctuation, etc. Like, how did this actually get published? Whoever the editor is should be ashamed to put this...

Smut aside, (though that was hot af) this book was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read. As someone with a history of religious trauma, I’ve fought tooth and nail for my sex positive mindset and comfortability in my own skin. This author has such a beautiful way of weaving so much queer acceptable and freedom from shame into their work, this book alone will live rent free in my mind for years to come, even as I move to devour everything else they’ve written. I cannot thank them...

I didn’t expect this romance to be so soft and comforting. Rusulka and Belladonna ate paired together and the succubi gives her space to heal from her religious trauma as well as challenges her. I liked how everyone in the community welcomed Belladonna and she found her role. This def has lgbtq+ rep. ) One person found this helpful
