Ivy Calder never intended to invite the abyss into her flower shop, but a desperate spell gone wrong summons Thorn, a Ledger Demon bound by the ancient, unforgiving laws of Hell. As an enforcer designed to collect souls and silence dissent, Thorn is a creature of cold precision and unexpected, razor-sharp wit. He exists to serve the machinery of the underworld, yet he finds himself tethered to a woman whose very existence challenges his programming.
Set against the atmospheric backdrop of the Veil of Shadows universe, this historical paranormal romance explores the friction between rigid destiny and the chaos of human choice. As Valentine’s Day looms and the dark authorities tighten their grip, Ivy and Thorn must navigate a dangerous alliance that quickly evolves into an act of profound rebellion. Their connection is a defiance of the status quo, proving that even in a world built on contracts and consequences, some bonds are impossible to audit.
Perfect for fans of gritty, high-stakes demon romance, this standalone novella offers a masterclass in tension and character-driven stakes. Whether you are a newcomer to this world or a long-time reader of M. R. Pritchard, you will find yourself captivated by this dark, enchanting tale of love dismantling the architecture of Hell.

. R. Pritchard just knows how to write captivating books. There’s no way I’m skipping anything by this author. This novella follows a different set of characters from her other interconnected series, and I fell in love just the same. Ivy was a great FMC, she’s fierce, kind and hardworking. Our MMC? Well, he’s a demon so… intense and handsome, as expected. I love that he’s called Thorn and she’s called Ivy, both plant-related names. I don’t know why that was so cute to me. The flower shop in...

The MMC, Thorn, is good at responding in short, irrefutable sentences. He also has a Mensa style with the words he chooses, which I found unique, and his responses are unexpected and entertaining. His strong belief that some disruptions must be remedied by un-aliving someone was hilarious. The FMC, Ivy, is the light to his darkness and the only thing stopping him from following through with this, more than once. Ivy has a knack for making bad situations even worse and forcing them both to...

I really enjoyed this book for many reasons, the storyline was cute and enjoyable, the characters were relatable, but there was also deep concepts layered into it that made it even better. Thiz matter of choice, even if it was a demon bound by a ledger which would never be us, showed this deep core of our choices and how we often feel like we have things we have to do regardless of our feelings of it, but actually we have a choice even if it's uncomfortable, even if it goes against the order of...

I really enjoy this book. I truly love the Ivy- the main FMC!! Her tenacity was so refreshing to read. Then there is Thorn, not your typical Demon- that’s for sure!! your morally grey Demon😏 The pace of the book kept me glued in right to the end. Thank you Booksirens , Midnight Ledger Publisher and M.R Pritchard for this advance reader copy. ) !Image 85: Ruin has sharp fangs !Image 86!Image 87: Ruin has sharp fangs !Image 88 ![Image 89 Annette...
