How (Not) To Raise The Dead: A Paranormal Dark Romcom

by Rachael Chadwick

About this book

Eden just wanted one final goodbye, but her amateur attempt at a summoning spell results in a catastrophic magical misfire. Instead of her late boyfriend, she accidentally drags Malachi—a cynical, horn-clad demon with an arsonist’s temperament and zero interest in human sentiment—straight into her living room. Trapped together in a forced-proximity nightmare, the grieving mortal and the reluctant hell-spawn are forced to navigate the thin line between enemy and lover.

What begins as a desperate, bickering alliance soon spirals into a dangerously slow-burn romance. As Malachi discovers the complexities of human emotion and Eden begins to heal, they learn that their connection is more than just a magical accident. The chemistry between them is electric, volatile, and entirely forbidden by the laws of the afterlife.

When Hell finally tracks down its missing property, the stakes shift from magical mishaps to a fight for survival. This witty, dark paranormal rom-com is a must-read for fans of demon-deals and high-tension character dynamics. With sharp humor, a touch of spice, and a captivating edge, this story proves that sometimes the person—or demon—you summon is exactly the one you never knew you needed.

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 What a sleeper hit for me! I just saw one of the author's tik toks and added it to my tbr without looking too much into it. I have to say this will probably wind up being in my top reads of this year!! The first half of this book gave me the same vibes as Eldrith Manor, just more light hearted, but the second half became super adventurous and action packed. I loved both of our MCs. Eden expresses grief in such a raw way that feels so realistic, it's heartbreaking. Malachi is...

A Charming Story

This book surprised me in a good way. It is well written and the story was enjoyable. The two side kick animals Vesper and Chain-Chewer were a nice touch. I loved how Eden and Malachi grew and developed as the story progressed. Can’t wait for the next book. )

Hilarious and (hear me out) oddly realistic
