Guarded by the Snake: Monster Security Agency

by Layla Fae

About this book

Asan is a lethal, cold-blooded operative for the elite Monster Security Agency, and he has never met a client as infuriating as the human thief he is hired to protect. Tasked with shielding her from a powerful syndicate after a heist gone wrong, he expects a simple extraction. Instead, he finds himself saddled with an incessant, chatterbox human who tests his patience at every turn. Yet, when their survival becomes a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, the professional distance begins to shatter.

This gripping paranormal romance masterfully leans into the enemies-to-lovers trope, as forced proximity in the shadows creates a suffocating, electric tension. Asan’s restraint crumbles when the threat level skyrockets, turning his protective instincts into a possessive, primal need. Between the visceral action and the intense, scale-on-skin intimacy, the chemistry between the grumpy, serpentine monster and his ballsy charge is undeniable.

For readers seeking a story that blends a found-family dynamic with scorching, unconventional monster spice, this is an unputdownable escape. It is a dark, fast-paced tale where the line between bodyguard and predator blurs, leading to a breathless, heart-pounding conclusion. If you are ready to embrace the fantasy of a lethal protector, Asan is waiting to claim his place on your shelf.

I am SO here for Asan

July 4, 2024

If you read monster romance you know that prehensile tails, multiple shafts, and coiled serpentine embraces are a thing. If you’re not squeamish, the fantasy is obvious. Fae’s Guarded by the Snake is, well, gripping, and monstrously sexy. Asan and Kim have such delicious chemistry and the writing is so good that this book rises above most of the rest of the other snakey romances. I especially appreciate how Fae avoids so many of the monster relationship cliches, like “you were made for me.”...

Why did I like this book so much?!? I did not realize I would be into this type of romance, but I am extremely glad I gave it shot, because this book changed my mind. The plot is there and the spice is HOT! We get a little world building, adventure, romance, plus did you know he has two...spikes? Asan knows how to talk and I was captivated during the smut scenes. I didn't realized I was interested in this type of monster romance but now I definitely want more. Layla did NOT disappoint in these...

Monster romance

February 4, 2024

One of my favourite stories ever! It was different, beautiful, sweet, suspenseful. It was a slow to medium burn. You actually read about them falling in love right on the page! I also liked the honesty and openness in their relationship. The spice was top tier! Think stuffing, significant size difference, pleasure dom, talking her through every inch of him and through her *explosions* (she literally squirts every time), and praise (good girl, perfect pet, etc). Asan has a deliciously dirty...

monster romance

This was exactly what I was expecting it to be. I wanted something fun to get my mind off things and this fit the bill. Monster romance does it again. The characters are fun and I liked their dynamic. The intimate scenes were good too but could be a tad repetitive. The plot had a resolution. There’s an HEA. I love the cover for this. It’s really pretty! ) One person found this helpful
