Cursed: The Watchers Trilogy, Book 1

by S.J. West

About this book

Lilly Rayne Nightingale has spent her life dodging a series of near-fatal accidents that feel less like bad luck and more like a targeted vendetta from Fate itself. Through every brush with death, her childhood best friend, Will, acted as her unwavering protector. But when a single, life-altering kiss leads to a devastating heartbreak, their bond shatters, leaving Lilly to face her freshman year of college feeling exposed and alone.

Enter Brand Cole, a mysterious stranger who offers a clean slate and a chance to move beyond the ghosts of her past. As Lilly finds herself caught in a tense love triangle between her former flame and this captivating new arrival, she is forced to confront a difficult choice: cling to an adolescent fantasy or embrace a new, uncertain future.

This addictive paranormal romance masterfully weaves together the second-chance trope with a high-stakes supernatural mystery. Beneath the surface of her complicated love life, a darker truth lurks. Lilly soon discovers that the accidents plaguing her are not just strokes of bad luck, but the work of malevolent demons. As Will and Brand harbor secrets that could change everything, Lilly must uncover who is truly hunting her before her time finally runs out.

Reader Reviews

Intriguing, engaging, well-told story

September 2, 2015

This review is long overdue. I realized yesterday that, though I have rated this book in the past, I never actually did a written review of this series. This gives me the awesome excuse to read these books again. West does an excellent job telling the story of Lilly Rayne Nightingale and her introduction to the paranormal world of the Watchers. Lilly is a strong, compelling character with a kind heart and an abundance of love and friendship within her circle. Characters from Lilly’s circle,...

Loving the start of this series

September 20, 2015

Cursed is listed as a YA novel, so if you are looking for hot and steamy – this is not it. With that being said, Cursed is still a wonderful read. We get to meet Lilly, Brand, Will, and a group of other characters. The story line is refreshing, Lilly has to go through what each and every one of us has had to go through at one point in our lives – why me? I’m no one special, etc. And while Lilly may seem immature to some, give the girl a break, she’s been through a lot in her life, but has also...

addictive

I've read the comments and I have to totally disagree with the ones saying this book was plain. I finished this book within a week, and it was so hard to put down. As a mother, I love the friendship between Tara and Lilly. It honestly reminds me of my teen and her best friend. They have known each other since kindergarten and have the same friendship dynamic, very protective of one another. It was great to see that in this book. As far as the love triangle, it was definitely interesting. I...

Plot twisted and turned!

I was pulled into the story because of the history and back stories that weren't obvious! It kept me intrigued. I also liked the wholesomeness and lack of swearing! The story was genuinely written. Loved the intertwined supernatural aspect! Can't wait to read the next book. )

Reeeeeeeal Sappy but Good

April 29, 2014

This was a fast read that both excited and disappointed me. I'll admit I like a good, sappy love story from time to time, but this one almost pushed it too far. It was similar to a train wreck. There were several times I wanted to put it down, but then something happened that would change my mind, and I kept reading until the end. The storyline was similar to a lot of Harlequin novels where you knew pretty much how it was going to end - which characters were going to get together - except it...
