Demon Lord (Demonverse)

by Margie McDonnell Welsh

About this book

Humanity is reeling after the shocking revelation that Nephilim walk among them. In this high-stakes paranormal romance, the world has become a powder keg of fear and discrimination. With God having recalled his angels and declaring Earth off-limits, Sahara Mancuso serves as the beleaguered Caretaker for the demon spawn, fighting a desperate political battle for their survival while Lucifer himself lurks in the shadows to turn the world into a new Hell.

The fragile peace shatters when a legion of demons defies divine law, invading the mortal realm to hunt Sahara. Enter Maxiel, a reformed Demon Lord turned provisional angel, tasked with a lethal mission: eliminate the invaders before a ticking clock triggers a divine Armageddon. Maxiel is Sahara’s only hope for survival, but as they forge an uneasy alliance, the lines between duty and desire blur. Falling for a fallen angel is dangerous enough, but when temptation threatens his immortal soul, Sahara must decide if their forbidden connection is worth the risk of total extinction.

Blending sharp, witty dialogue with a layered fantasy world, this story is a must-read for fans of complex supernatural lore and tortured romance. Will humanity evolve in time, or will the war between Heaven and Hell destroy everything?

A layered, original fantasy with angels, demons... and a deadline for humanity

July 30, 2025

Some books you read on the beach. Others you want on your bookshelf forever. Demon Lord by Margie McDonnell Welsh is both. You can bring it with you on vacation this summer—and then re-read it later when you need to remind yourself what great, bold storytelling looks like. Underneath the layers of action and angel-demon romance, there’s a powerful metaphor about the world we live in: good vs. evil, and the incredible (and terrifying) gift of free will. Humanity is on a deadline to evolve, and...

Great second step into the demon universe!

What a great second step into Margie's demon universe! After reading the first book and enjoying the introduction to a world where angels and demons are real part of society, demon lord evolves the series and its characters to journey further down the path of the fine line between good and evil. With strong themes of family, love, and justice Margie explores relationships, parel, and difficult decisions through her characters. I very much enjoyed her contiued creative world that I felt immersed...

The cheeky writing style we look forward to from our author continues in this book

August 15, 2024

Romance novel meets fantasy meets Dark Shadows meets the deadpan delivery of Bob Newhart as this book continues the story of our heroine, Sahara (aka The Caretaker) in her whacky life as a den mother in charge of a group home for kids who are born of human women that were fathered by defiant angels. All of the characters from Book 1 are present and accounted for and I can say unequivocally that heat between Sahara and Maxiel has not cooled, but it has morphed. As the surrogate mother to this...

More on relationships less on discovery

December 7, 2020

While I enjoyed the book something seemed to be missing, it took a while to realize that it was the sense of awe...that feeling of mingled fear and wonder. It makes sense, the character has been exposed to most of the things before. Rather than concentrate on the wonders of discovery, this book concentrates on the relationships between the characters. It is a good story and well worth reading anyway, and does have a few moments of awe that are generally worth the wait. ) 2 people found this...

Another GREAT book in her Fantasy Series

August 1, 2022

I really loved this book. The idea of demon spawn is original and I find myself caught up in the characters lives, and wanting to know what's next. Oh my gosh, the parts that include Satan are amazingly written. I enjoy the authors description of his wickedness, and how devious he is. The time spent in HELL was enjoyable! Now let's talk about the sensual parts, WOW...well done! Another creative character, is the depiction of God which is imaginative and clever. I'm a fan and look forward to the...
